The United Nations is the very definition of irony. The UN, bless their little hearts, is lecturing the U.S. about racial tensions.
A UN committee tasked with combatting racism has issued a formal “early warning” over conditions in the United States, a rare move often used to signal the potential of a looming civil conflict.
Except, no. Tensions are high, yes, but then again there are agitators on the right and the left fanning the flames. And the UN is doing what these squatters and grifters do best: Sitting under our protective umbrella acting the fool.
The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination said it had invoked its “early warning and urgent action procedure” because of the proliferation of racist demonstrations in the US.
Why did they issue the warning? Two hundred Neo-Nazis marching with tiki torches? Not the Antifa idiots who are just as damaging? Come on now.
The racism committee, part of the UN human rights office, can issue a formal early warning to help prevent “existing problems from escalating into conflict” or to “prevent a resumption of conflict where it has previously occurred”, according to the rights office website.
Did I miss something? I do not recall these fine people discussing this. Or acknowledging this.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Conference of Bishops has assembled an ad hoc committee to “address the sin of racism.”
Looks like deescalating to me.
“Recent events have exposed the extent to which the sin of racism continues to inflict our nation,” Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, the president of the conference, said in a statement. He said the committee will be dedicated “to engaging the Church and our society to work together in unity” to combat racism.
Not just the Catholics, but that does not fit Ms. Crickley’s meme, if you will. Because surely we evil Americans need the UN to tell us how bad we are? We recall Durban and selective use of racism for an agenda. The UN is prematurely, um, using the racism canard, if you will.
The UN perhaps may want to self-police before they meddle. And maybe pay those unpaid parking tickets? Or maybe even call out Daesh for treatment of gays and minorities? Too dangerous? Too much like what the committee was founded to do?
because of the proliferation of racist demonstrations in the US
Ummmm, you keep using that word……..
proliferation – a rapid increase in number
Though, I suppose, technically, an increase from 0 to 1 is a “rapid increase”……… *smdh*
part of the UN human rights office
You mean the folks who spend almost all their efforts in the Middle East yelling at Israel? The office that is under the direction of mostly brutal dictatorships?
the U.S. Conference of Bishops
Wow, another great group of folks who don’t represent what their name insists they do.
This is the best part, though:
“early warning and urgent action procedure”
Whatchu gonna do? You going to get a bunch of folks from militarily enervated nations to put on blue helmets/berets and come “keep the peace”? Don’t worry, folks, we’ll house them on college campuses – that way the claimed rate of rape and sexual assault will go down.
Or will you invade us? Because I say fat-a* chance of that. I doubt you could succeed, even if our entire active-duty military were taken off-planet for some period. They’d return to find us all driving through the Hardee’s drive-thru in Dutch APCs, with blue helmets mounted over our fireplaces.
I say, get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US. And our $$s, too.
(I don’t mind if they stay in NYC. We can make it a package deal when we carve out those blue cities to go it on their own.)
