Here’s a quick recap on the group that was lucky enough to avoid Donald Trump.
Rick Perry:
Rick came out strong, and remained strong throughout the debate, speaking to the growth and strength of Texas under his leadership.
Perry mentioned that the debate on Illegal Immigration has been going on for far too long, and that the people want action. TRUTH! Noted that no one on either stage has the experience he has with the border. However, he avoided the fact that we need to deal with illegal immigrants currently in the United States.
Perry on the Iran deal, “The first thing I will do is tear up that agreement with Iran!”
Rick Perry says he'd rather have Carly Fiorina negotiating the Iranian deal that John Kerry. A nice compliment across the stage #GOPDebate

Rick Santorum:
Santorum started weak, and ended on the same note. He spoke out in support of work requirements and time limits on entitlements, as well as spoke against same sex marriage. Those were the two main topics to immediately jump start a frenzy on Twitter.
Santorum fails to impress:
Be cool if Perry lowered his glasses just enough to use his laser vision to melt Santorum's microphone.

“The reason America is a great country, the reason is because our compassion is in our laws,” Santorum said in response to a question asking whether he would separate illegal immigrant families.
He had a few good moments, but nothing memorable.
Carly Fiorina:
Carly remained incredibly strong throughout the debate, she began by reminding everyone that Trump was once a supporter of Single Payer Insurance. It is difficult to even pinpoint a weak spot. She articulated our need for a stronger foreign policy due to cyber attacks, which hit a nerve considering the news hit of a Pentagon hack mere hours before the debate. If she had a weak point, I would say that she didn’t seize the opportunity to speak on the news of the Russian cyber attack specifically. All in all, very strategic use of current events (for the most part), and many on Twitter responded positively.
So far Fiorina has given most detailed answers to questions about how to solve problems i.e. China/Russia and cyber attacks #GOPDebate

Fiorina on Iran,”Obama broke every deal of negotiation.” She continued, “When America does not lead, the world is a dangerous and tragic place.”
Fiorina's answer there was terrific. #GOPDebate

Bobby Jindal:
Jindal wasn’t weak, nor was he strong. He gave some incredible answers, but others were lacking passion. High point was when he chastised Hillary and Obama for not being honest about their economic policies, “Give Bernie Sanders credit, at least he’s honest enough to call himself a socialist.”
Another high point: “We need to stop the culture of government dependency.”
He also hit a home run when it came to Planned Parenthood: “I will direct the DOJ to investigate Planned Parenthood and defund them.”
Jindal giving excellent Planned Parenthood answer here. #GOPDebate

Jim Gilmore:
Gilmore was forgettable. He tapped into his knowledge on 9/11, and the need for technological advancements, and that was really his high point.
Former Virginia Gov. Gilmore: "There are going to be further attacks." #GOPDebate
— Jonathan D. Salant (@JDSalant) August 6, 2015
Touted a 3 bracket tax code to create economic growth and jobs, which is still a progressive tax.
George Pataki:
Pataki was another one that was just there, with little to impress, and by the end he lost me completely. While speaking on ISIS, Pataki mentioned that boots on the ground is necessary, “Destroy ability to attack us over here over there, then get out.” Defines protected speech after asked, “Will you surveil mosques to stop Islamic extremism?” responds with, “Not protected speech.”
Gov Pataki: “I would not place one American life at risk unless it was absolutely necessary but to destroy ISIS, it is necessary" #GOPDebate
— BuzzFeed News (@BuzzFeedNews) August 6, 2015
Pataki failed to impress during the first 30 minutes:
#GOPDebate Pataki. Why is he there? Next.
— The Media Lies (@MeganSmiles) August 6, 2015
First he was boring, then it went down hill.
“Life begins at conception.” Pataki said we shouldn’t change Roe V. Wade (that’s gonna hurt…), but that we need to defund Planned Parenthood, as well as end abortions after 20 weeks.
Major blunder from Pataki in backing up Roe v Wade. Wow. #GOPDebate

Lindsey Graham:
Started weak, used “ISIL” instead of “ISIS.”
If you refuse to say "ISIS" you've lost my vote. #GOPDebate
— Steven Crowder (@scrowder) August 6, 2015
Graham spoke about the damaging results of the Obama Presidency, yet he’s been pretty complacent himself. His bark is clearly worse than his bite.
(SIDE NOTE: Right now it’s 5:02 central time, and I’m ready for Graham to stop talking. Please, I beg of you, don’t put him in the White House.)
Graham said he thinks other healthcare centers should receive funding, yet didn’t even vote on defunding Planned Parenthood. Clearly says one thing, and does another. Apparently infants only matter when it comes to winning votes. To that I say,
Winner: Tie between Carly Fiorina and Rick Perry
Runner up: Bobby Jindal
Loser: Lindsey Graham
Were there other people in the debate? I don’t even remember.
Thanksgor the updates! Since i don’t have cable (annoyed at fox) this is about as close as i can get to it. Good recap!!
Good job! I wasn’t able to see either of the debates, so this was very helpful! 🙂
