Two words that often end up in the same sentence are Armageddon and AI. In truth, AI is a blessing and a curse.

Could it eliminate jobs? Certainly? Could it also save someone’s job by rewording a harshly-directed e-mail message that might get one fired? Absolutely. Using AI to craft a carefully-worded, yet poignant message telling someone to go to hell is a great tool to have at one’s finger tips.

But, what happens when AI is policed and coached by a group of like-minded elitists?Anthropic CEO, Dario Amodi, is taking it upon himself, and his hand-picked “task force”, to make sure, AI does not ruin our world (boy, do we have news for him.) Just recently, Amodi argued that leading AI firms should commit to allowing “embedded third-party evaluators” from a nonprofit called Model Evaluation and Threat Research,(METR).

Who are members of MERT? His friends, of course. And their spouses. And their friends. And, with them, he wants to pace the frontier. In fact, Modi has come up with his own Three-Step Plan:

. Embedded Evaluators. Each frontier AI company commits to giving ongoing, employee-like access to a team of embedded third-party evaluators (such as METR), whose role is to verify adherence to safety practices and commitments, report incidents, and help assess the alignment of not just completed AI models but training pipelines and processes.

For “safety and alignment work”, he says. Step Two:

2. Democratic Coordination. Frontier AI companies within democratic countries coordinate to establish common safety standards as well as limits on the rate of unchecked AI progress. Some forms of coordination that would be impactful for pacing are legally challenging, and will require government support.

Yes, let’s involve the global governing bodies. What could possibly go wrong?

And, third and finally…

3. Global Coordination. The US and other democratic governments attempt to coordinate with authoritarian governments, to the extent this is possible, while taking seriously the challenges of verifying compliance.

Read: let’s make the rules now, so that everyone else follows them later. This is the same Anthropic who expressed “concerns” of partnering with the U.S. Government under the Trump administration for military purposes and surveillance. Now, they want to partner and coordinate with democratic countries, to include authoritarian governments.

And, the cool kids in Silicon Valley are all about this-tied to a cult-like “philanthropy” dubbed “effective altruism”. (EA)

Admittedly, it sounds very dystopian. But what actually is “effective altruism”, you ask? Effective altruism advocates for using reason — and fortunes amassed by tech’s best and brightest — to do the most good for humanity over the long term.

By training the AI models. By policing and controlling the information AI spits out. By working with democracies of their choosing. All for the greater good of humanity. Embedded evaluators who all just happen to be Democratic donors, spouses of Democratic donors and friends of Democratic donors?

The tangled web is woven in the valley. Classmates, housemates, married to mutual friends. And, of the same mindset, all marching to the goals they think are most important to humanity. Remember Sam Bankman-Fried, anybody?

The “betters” are at it again. Improving (and policing) humanity in the AI landscape. They’ll call it something pretentious like, “effective altruism”. If these people really think AI has wrecked us and is going to screw us even more so down the road without their intervention, I have a newsflash for these Silicon Valley geniuses: we’re already FUBAR. For example, this is what pops up when one asks AI the question, “What is a Woman?”

Understanding the Definition of a Woman

The concept of womanhood is multifaceted and influenced by various factors.

We have kids that are confused beyond belief. We have generation of college kids who cannot write a paper. We have lonely individuals chatting up AI in place of genuine, true, human interaction. The floodgates have already been opened. And, really, if you think humanity is going to “improve” by forcing the models to convince those gullible enough to believe that climate change is our biggest existential threat on this earth and socialism is the ticket to a brighter future, boy are we in trouble.

Not just a group of pretentious words and equally pretentious people, dangerous ideas and equally dangerous people. Remember Zuckerberg’s mouth-breathing moderators during COVID? If so, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

With these people “checking” AI? Training it? Monitoring it? Policing it? Woke 2.0 may actually be worse than Woke 1.0.

At this point, woke elitists won’t save us from AI but maybe AI may save us from some of the woke elitists.
