Bring on Mamdani’s warmth of collectivism! New Yorkers are not happy. They thought they were getting the Socialist utopia they were longing for-with free transportation, free supermarkets, free daycare for their kids and more Mamdani handouts until…
It was revealed to them that they would also be responsible for New York State’s new pied-à-terre tax.
Longtime residents — some who have called the Big Apple home for decades and own a single abode in the city — told The Post they were shocked…”
(Shocked. SHOCKED, I tell you…)
…”to get hit with five-figure tax bills they believe were mistakenly mailed out, and are now being forced to navigate a bureaucratic labyrinth to prove it.”-The New York Post
Mistakenly mailed? Nah. A bureaucratic labyrinth? Absolutely!
The tax is meant to apply to one-to-3 family homes worth at least $5 million and co-ops and condominiums valued at $1 million or more — that are unoccupied, non-primary residences, according to the legislation approved by Albany lawmakers and Gov. Kathy Hochul this spring.”-The NY Post
He did want to tax the rich, after all.
Whoever’s behind this, who I can only assume is the mayor, didn’t take the 30 seconds to research. Is this a witch hunt? As a faithful New Yorker since 1972, I find it not only insulting but painful. Is anybody paying any attention, or any thinking, or two minutes of research. Just look me up!”-Karen Young
Young is a permanent resident who lives in a Brownstone on the Upper West Side. She is president and founder of New York and Paris-based beauty marketing company The Young Group.
I think it’s unfair to pick on people, and I don’t know how they’re going to police that I think it’s very foolish.
I pay condo fees, I pay real estate taxes … I go out and eat, I go to the theater, I go to movies, I spend money everywhere, I buy stuff. I mean, I am a profit center.” -Diane Francis
Diane Francis is a Canadian journalist who lives in New York part time. I will spare Diane. She did say Trump would be bad for Canada once, but not as bad as Justin Trudeau.
And for them to punish me as though I’m some kind of a problem, when in actual fact I’m not a problem, I’m a benefit to the city, is beneath the intelligence that most New Yorkers have.”-Diane Francis
No one ever said they were voting for intelligence now, did they?
At this point, residents have to go through the painstaking process of proving the residency being taxed is indeed, a full-time one or else, get hit with a payment. According to Karen Young, the NYC Department of Finance website is a surrealistic nightmare.
It’s a cumbersome process to prove that I’m a primary resident, which just seems absurd. My jury summons come here, I pay my taxes from here, my utilities.”-Karen Young
Which should be enough to prove residency, one would think. But, think again…
Last week, my mom got a "pied-a-terre" tax notice. She has lived full-time in her townhouse FOR 30 YEARS (she and my dad bought it for under $1 million). She has no other residence.
Is NYC not bothering with basic checking of its own tax lists?

You might be a dip$hit if you voted for this. You just might.
Consequences of this policy:
– More money leaves your state
– More jobs leave your state
– No incentive for the wealthy to buy a property in NYC
– Property value drops
– More construction workers lose jobs
– Realtors lose income. What’s your point with this policy?

But les pommes de terre who voted and/or supported for this domestic terrorist imposing pied-à-terre taxes are still oblivious. Potatoes.
Robert De Niro (longtime West Village holdings + other NYC properties)
Alec Baldwin (multiple apartments in Greenwich Village)
Matt Damon (Brooklyn Heights penthouse; has additional homes elsewhere)
Uma Thurman (Manhattan co-op)
George Clooney (NYC condo)
Leonardo DiCaprio…— Loricakes23 (@loricakes23) July 28, 2026
Please, Dear God. Make DeNiro pay for everybody! “Hope comes from Mamdani” or something.
Forcing longtime residents to justify how long they’ve lived in the city has echoes of more repressive regimes.
It feels like a command-and-control type government like Cuba or China. They say, and they are going to come and take it if you don’t comply. There’s a sort of unspoken threat.”-NYC Resident, Andy Arons
Like Cuba or China, eh? Mr. Arons, there is no accident there, I assure you. But this is what New Yorkers voted for. To be doxxed. To be sent a hefty bill. Clean parks and city streets have to come from somewhere, right? But, we all know that clean parks and city streets won’t be happening, either. Just bloated funds lining bureaucrat’s pockets.
Get ready to sell, New Yorkers. And if you voted for this, know your votes have consequences. If you thought you saw lots of businesses leaving The Big Apple after Zohran Mamdani was elected, I have a newsflash for you. He’s not done turning the greatest city on Earth into a third-world cesspool just yet. In fact, he’s only just begun.

You all voted for this. Oh, you stayed home, yea that was a vote for this too. You can protest all that you want, but your choice was a vote to allow this to happen, idiots. So, now, you get to enjoy the consequences of your laziness, ignorance, and stupidity. And you’re going to get good, hard, and dry. Enjoy the ride.
New Yorkers must not forget: Governor Hochul fully supported Mamdani to get him elected. Want more of the same…just re-elect Hochul and you will get more of the same. Sadly, NY Democrats are stupid enough to bring Hochul back for another go-round!
