It’s a very funny joke. Nothing to get mad about. I have already seen the movie and it’s a great joke. Two Ohio lawmakers have put forth a bill in the state house to make ejaculations without the goal of conception a misdemeanor offense. The goal was to point out the hypocrisy of trying to control women’s bodies, while men “get off” scot-free. Yes, it’s stupid, but it is funny. Not laugh out loud funny, but quirk your lips funny.
Anita Somani, an ob-gyn representing a district North of Columbus, and Tristan Rader, an advocate for sustainability and social justice who represents a district West of Cleveland, believe that this comical stunt will encourage American voters to see how wrong the SCOTUS Dobb’s Decision returning abortion to the states is.
Dear Representative Somani wrote an editorial for the Columbus Dispatch explaining her reasons for the cheeky bill:
As an OB/GYN, I know how ludicrous my bill sounds.
The “Conception Begins at Erection” Act would make it a crime for a man to ejaculate without the intention of reproducing.
It’s gotten more attention than any other bill I’ve introduced since becoming a state representative.
Many people have praised the bill for finally addressing the inequity in reproductive bills, most of which have targeted women and their health care providers. Others have ridiculed the bill and commented on my expertise. But the important thing is, we’re having this conversation.
Like the “race conversation” we are always being told we must have, this convo is just to browbeat us until we agree with the baby-murderers. There’s more:
Awareness of how absurd it is to regulate anyone’s reproductive rights and that politicians should not be involved in the personal medical decisions of men or women. The other area of awareness is that the name of a bill doesn’t reflect the good or the harm that a bill can cause.
It is imperative that as citizens we pay attention to what is happening at the state and federal level.
After all, as representatives, we are here to work for you, not for special interests like the Heritage Foundation, Project 2025 or the Center for Christian Virtues.
Hoo boy, she is salty and dislikes anyone who disagrees with her. She believes that Christians and Conservative are not her constituency. If you live in Dublin, Ohio, vote her out.
According to Statehouse News, Dr. Somani does make exceptions:
Somani said it would be illegal for a man to disseminate semen or genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo. She says there would be three exceptions – masturbation, using a condom and the LGBTQ community.
The satirical bill has just been written and hasn’t been assigned a number yet. It also doesn’t have any Republican sponsors either. Somani said she doesn’t have any GOP lawmakers on board and doesn’t expect the Republican dominated legislature to take it seriously, but she adds, “we need to look at it from the broader perspective of regulating one sex and not the other.”
It’s not a surprise, but Rep. Ron Ferguson (R-Wintersville), one of the most conservative members of the House, won’t be signing on to the legislation. He said he doesn’t understand why the Democratic lawmakers would think there are so many bills that regulate women’s bodies. He said this bill doesn’t make any sense.
“We are talking about conception happening before a sperm fertilizes an egg. Clearly, somebody doesn’t understand simple biology,” Ferguson said.
Yes, these people make my hair hurt. All ejaculations are not equal. Men can masturbate, have sex with other men and have sex with women if they use a condom, which would cover a lot of ejaculations.
Those on the Left suck at humor and memes. If they really wanted a clever fake bill, they should have watched the funny Reese Witherspoon movie called Legally Blonde and the law lesson on nocturnal emissions and reckless abandonment:
As Matt Vespa wrote in Townhall:
To the shock of no one, this bill is dead on arrival. The fact that it was even put forward is an embarrassment. However you feel about abortion, it does deal with ending human life. This bill is about sperm and regulating it, which is creepy, weird, and all sorts of ‘WTF.’
It doesn’t work as a joke and it does make the Dems look absurd. I have to go watch the whole Legally Blonde movie now.

As an OB/GYN, I know how ludicrous my bill sounds.
Oh sweetie, you were ludicrous long before you created that bill. Most people are just too polite to say it to you.
As an Ohioan, I think I’ll just take the dog for a walk and forget I read about this bill. Of course, Dublin Ohio is full of these wacky libs, so it’s not a surprise
It needs an amendment. Any ovulation that isn’t being pared with the necessary sperm should also be criminalized if that’s the route they’re going to take.
As it is, I’d be PO’ed if they were my reps simply because they’re wasting resources with this drivel. I’m not a big fan of politicians wasting time honoring championship sports teams either.
It would help if women were taught to recognize and reject predatory men, and it would also help if society did not idolize predatory men. A predatory man is just a social mammal with no interest in acting like humans are meant to.
If a woman is living with a man, and does not want to become pregnant, but the man couldn’t care less, he is abusing her. She needs to flea, get away, reject him, etc. without delay.
Abortion on demand is evil because it terminates the life of a human. The “it’s my body” argument is merely another example of total self-interest at another’s expense.
Marriage, the foundation for a vibrant society, will only work if the husband and wife are committed to take care of each other “as long as they both shall live.”
“It’s gotten more attention than any other bill I’ve introduced since becoming a state representative.”
Then she must be pretty bad at writing bills (or maybe just bad at addressing issues that actually matter instead of grandstanding).
