Please Don’t Shoot The Drones

It’s close to Inauguration Day for President Donald Trump 2.0. Since we have all been on edge for the last four plus years, the fact that drones are making appearances in New Jersey and more areas is making people very nervous. Please don’t shoot them down, it is illegal and dangerous. The Biden Administration, as usual, is only adding pandemonium to the hysteria.

I feel so blessed. I live about 15 minutes from a Tennessee National Guard base in Alcoa and midpoint between Fontana Dam of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. There is always stuff flying over my house. I feel very protected. You would think Jersey folks would feel the same way. Can you imagine more crowded skies than those near Newark? How do they tell one UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) from the next. People are clearly seeing something.

The government under Biden and Harris is not making people feel reassured. Joe doesn’t make anyone feel good about anything. Where is the Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin? Where is the Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas? Where is the Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg? Retired Rear Admiral John Kirby is only making people feel nervous:

This makes the back of my teeth hurt. Kirby sold his soul and 2/3 of his brain. You would have to in order to tell the hellacious lies he does. And ptomaine word salads.

Of course, there are those like Senators Richard (DaNang Dick) Blumenthal, Cory (Spartacus) Booker and Thom Tillis who advocate shooting the drones out of the sky.

These are not pleasure drones. Some of these are SUV size drones. Can you imagine the damage that would be done if these were shot out of the sky? Take a gander at this epically bad idea:

What you see there folks is a suburban area with a lot of homes. Shooting the drones out of the sky could destroy a house, cause a fire, and hurt of kill many people. And, it’s illegal for you and your neighbors to shoot them out of the sky. According to USA Today:

As of Oct. 1, 791,597 drones are registered in the U.S. according to the Federal Aviation Administration, including 396,746 commercial drones and 387,746 recreational drones.

Regardless of the drone’s classification, however, the FAA considers them aircrafts — meaning that you could be charged with shooting at an aircraft, a federal crime, if you take a shot at one.

If you believe a drone is violating the law, your best bet is to contact law enforcement.

Not that the LEOs are going to be able to do anything about the drones. My Marine Father warned me years ago about this crazy idea: What goes up must come down. Like, don’t do this:

Even Trump 2.0 has joined the “shoot them down” chorus:

In a Friday post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump indicated that he believes authorities know more about the drones than they are letting on.

“Mystery Drone sightings all over the Country. Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge. I don [sic] think so! Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shot [sic] them down!!! DJT,” the president-elect wrote.

Oy vey! No! Is our government lying? Hell, yes. See Kirby above. When our elected servants and incoming President know shite, that’s even worse. Don’t get yourself worked up and please don’t shoot down the drones.

Toni, agreed that shooting down a drone over a populated area is a bad idea.. But some reports say that drones are tailing Coast Guard ships, and possibly Navy ones. these SHOULD be shot down. They are over the ocean, and seem to pose a security threat. Context matters a lot. I’d say the same thing if the drones are violating airspace around military bases.

Coast Guard & Navy should have electronic countermeasures and more efficient means for reducing this threat than simply shooting them down. That they currently don’t is an indictment of the DOD throughout this administration.

The Air Farce used to use falconry to clear airways of avian threats – lo-tech though it seems, very little has proven more effective at incapacitating aerial drones than wildlife; let’s bring back this specialty.
