Your Feel Good Story of the Day — no, make that for the long holiday weekend: Insufferable former sports reporter Keith Olbermann lashed out at swimmer Riley Gaines on social media. And he got owned as a result.

Riley Gaines, you’ll remember, is the former member of the University of Kentucky women’s swim team where she became a 12-time NCAA All-American swimmer.

Then Lia Thomas happened.

In 2022, U Penn male-to-female transgender swimmer Lia Thomas began breaking swimming records as a woman. He competed against Riley Gaines, and they tied for 5th place in the 200 Freestyle finals, but the worst part for Riley was having this male join the team in locker rooms. “You have someone with male genitalia pulling his pants down, watching you as you undress. It throws you off,” she said.

However, Riley Gaines chose to speak up. And she did so fearlessly, even though in April she was assaulted at San Francisco State University by trans activists. She’s also testified before Congress and state legislatures on behalf of female athletes.

Her activism was too much for Keith Olbermann, however.

Keith Olbermann Goes Bananas

Sometime sports announcer Keith Olbermann — who has been through more jobs than grease through a goose — went bananas after Riley Gaines endorsed the “Women’s Bill of Rights” in the state of Nebraska.

Riley had posted criticism of NB state senator Megan Hunt for Hunt’s opposition to the new Nebraska bill. To which Olbermann replied at Twitter/X:

Can you just address the reality and move past it? You sucked at swimming. That’s why you lost.

First of all, she didn’t lose, and lots of X-users pointed that out to Olbermann. Like OutKick owner and announcer Clay Travis, who responded:

This is profoundly dumb even for you, Keith. Riley Gaines was one of the best women’s collegiate swimmers in the country. She was forced to swim against a man pretending to be a woman. Do you really think men’s and women’s sports shouldn’t be separated?

Plus, Olympian gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner — formerly Bruce Jenner — also threw shade at Keith Olbermann:

Keith is an out of touch former media hack and not interested in any real dialogue. I wouldn’t pay him much attention. Everyone knows the people are on the side of protecting women’s sports – this means not including men in women’s sports. He’s irrelevant. Keep fighting Riley and Clay!!

But Olbermann didn’t know when to shut up, posting:

Second team all-conference. Happily for nasty, stupid, unsuccessful transphobe Riley Gaines she has no reputation to ruin. 

Finally, Riley Gaines herself addressed Olbermann directly:

That’s gonna leave a mark. Or not. Keith Olbermann has an amazing lack of self-awareness.

Riley Gaines Scores

Her college swimming days may be behind her, but Riley Gaines has a bright future ahead as a result of her bold stand for women in sports.

In September, 2022, she endorsed Rand Paul for Senate.

In December, 2022, the Independent Women’s Forum announced that they had hired her as their Stand with Women Spokeswoman (and yes, they use “Spokeswoman”). IWF president Carrie Lucas said:

Riley exemplifies what it means to be an independent woman. She spoke out about this difficult issue when authorities in the sports world were telling her to stay silent. She risked a social media mob to speak the truth.

In June, Riley endorsed FL Gov. Ron DeSantis for President, introducing him at a rally in Greenville, SC. She also spoke with Eric Bolling of Newsmax in support of DeSantis, saying that he is “the right thing for women.”

His leadership has been crucial in rooting out the radical ideology that’s really driving this insanity and really bringing visibility to these cultural issues that affect the breakdown of families, the breakdown of faith, the breakdown of freedoms. He’s really taken on this political establishment, the woke corporations, the media, and he’s won. And we know this based off his success in Florida alone.

The icing on the cake, however, came in July, when Riley Gaines partnered with OutKick, Clay Travis’s rapidly growing sports media company. She debuted a podcast called “Gaines for Girls” on OutKick’s OTT network, which will focus on cultural issues. Gaines said:

The audience can expect open conversations from policy experts, world-renowned scientists, elite athletes, and others who have been affected by the cultural issues plaguing America.

And Keith Olbermann? He’ll continue to fire social media bombs at conservatives who live happier lives than he does. As Megyn Kelly said in her own glorious takedown of Olbermann:

… no one would marry you. And you have no children. You have a cold, lonely life in which you’ve become a bitter, bitter man.

Keith Olbermann got owned, once again by a woman, and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving misanthropic hack. So sit back and enjoy the Schadenfreude.
