The Trump Administration is planning to launch a global campaign that will end the criminalization of homosexuals. You know who will be leading this campaign? Ambassador Richard Grenell, the first openly gay official in the Trump Administration. There are credible stories galore over the heinous murders of gays at the hands of ISIS, the Iranian government and many other countries. Yet, what does OUT magazine do? Throws a complete shit fit.
"Rather than actually being about helping queer people around the world, Trump's campaign looks more like another instance of the right using queer people as a pawn to amass power and enact its own agenda," writes @mathewrodriguez. https://t.co/xKAP5u6ZvC

OH REALLY??!!
Let’s look at the actual story shall we?
The Trump administration is launching a global campaign to end the criminalization of homosexuality in dozens of nations where it’s still illegal to be gay, U.S. officials tell NBC News, a bid aimed in part at denouncing Iran over its human rights record.
U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, the highest-profile openly gay person in the Trump administration, is leading the effort, which kicks off Tuesday evening in Berlin. The U.S. embassy is flying in LGBT activists from across Europe for a strategy dinner to plan to push for decriminalization in places that still outlaw homosexuality — mostly concentrated in the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.
“It is concerning that, in the 21st century, some 70 countries continue to have laws that criminalize LGBTI status or conduct,” said a U.S. official involved in organizing the event.
Of course, the media just had to bring up transgenders serving in the military. Because somehow the federal government not paying for all the health problems transgenders have is as criminal as Iran killing people for being gay.
How many LGBT organizations will be willing to praise this move by @realDonaldTrump? President Trump is moving to end the brutalization of gay people by repressive regimes. https://t.co/9uoJwnrIGQ

Quite a few, unless you are the idiots who work and write for Out magazine.
The Trump administration is set to launch a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality in dozens of nations where anti-gay laws are still on the books, NBC News reported Monday. While on its surface, the move looks like an atypically benevolent decision by the Trump administration, the details of the campaign belie a different story. Rather than actually being about helping queer people around the world, the campaign looks more like another instance of the right using queer people as a pawn to amass power and enact its own agenda.

The truth is, this is part of an old colonialist handbook. In her essay, “Can the Subaltern Speak?” postcolonial theorist Gayatri Spivak coined the term “White men saving brown women from brown men” to describe the racist, paternalistic process by which colonizing powers would decry the way men in power treated oppressed groups, like women, to justify attacking them. Spivak was referencing the British colonial agenda in India. But Grennell’s attack might be a case of white men trying to save brown gay men from brown straight men, to the same end.
There are several signs that this decision is denoted in a colonial sense of paternalism rather than any true altruism.
You know why Out isn’t liking this? Because not enough or any of the RIGHT kind of LGBTQ activists are being invited to the table. Evidently inviting activists from only the European countries (read whites only here) for the first round of dialogue is virtue signaling according to Out’s “logic.”
Yes, Out really thinks that getting countries to stop imprisoning and/or killing people for being gay is an old racist tactic.
Gays supporting throwing Muslim gays off buildings, to own the cons https://t.co/Uvj8ZVoA7Q

You see, it doesn’t matter that this is the right thing to do. Out doesn’t like it because ORANGE MAN BAD!!
Yes, this is the same magazine I worked for as Editor-at-Large before they fired me, almost two years ago to the day, for saying ‘I don’t hate Trump, I like free speech, journalism is in the gutter, and the left is a little crazy’
— Chadwick Moore (@Chadwick_Moore) February 20, 2019
The left has gone more than a little crazy since then Chadwick. And this pearl clutching mess from Out magazine is a prime example. They are so caught up in their hatred of Trump, that they throw out ridiculous articles like this.
Richard Grenell had a short pithy response to Out’s sniveling.
Ummmm? No. https://t.co/pn6HJFu7vE

Out doesn’t like Trump. That much is clear. Here in the U.S., no one is getting stoned to death, thrown off rooftops, or hanged because they are gay. NO ONE. Across the world, people are.
Yet Out magazine is so caught up in their Trump Derangement Syndrome that they can’t even support a push to get 71 countries to quit criminalizing homosexuality.
You want more Trump? This is how you get more Trump.

And yet when you ask them directly what Trump has done that is anti-gay, they get that NPC look on their faces.
I’ve asked liberal women to tell me exactly what rights they’ve lost to the Trump regime, they tell me I don’t understand because I’m a man. Nice sidestep.
Stop harshing their Oppression Fantasies, man!
How else is the most coddled and privileged going to pretend that they’re rebellious rebels that rebel against the Man if you keep pointing out that they basically are the Man?
I’ll let Sir Charles Napier reply to Gayatri Spivak.
“Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.”
Burning the widows to own the cons.
When Spivak wrote this, ” the racist, paternalistic process by which colonizing powers would decry the way men in power treated oppressed groups, like women, to justify attacking them,” she was undoubtedly referencing the practice of suttee/sati but she didn’t want to openly say so.
“Here in the U.S., no one is getting stoned to death, thrown off rooftops, or hanged because they are gay. NO ONE.”
Oh yeah? Jussie Smollet is! Oh, wait, what?
another instance of the right using queer people as a pawn to amass power and enact its own agenda
That statement is so absolutely perfect and true – except for the one GLARING flaw. Can you spot it?
“the right” should be “the left”
My fiancé was pretty speechless when I showed him the headline about this… he was also stunned by the news that Jussie is being indicted…
Not a good day to be a liberal gay guy reading the news.
For an individual interested in truth and liberty it’s a great day.
a colonial sense of paternalism
Or, maybe, it’s “paternalistic” because our culture is better than their culture?
If you disagree, then I encourage you to go live as an openly gay couple in any of those cultures for a year. Not in some expat enclave, either. Go live amongst the hoi polloi.
Across the world, people are.
Let’s specify, though, that it doesn’t happen *nearly* as often as the LGBT+ folks like to claim. Not even in these countries.
Also, this is another example of how Trump is NOT conservative. He’s an old-style Blue Dog Democrat, and a social progressive. BUT, that places him waaaay to the right of our current would-be masters.
