barack hussein obama: president of the largest muslim nation?

barack hussein obama: president of the largest muslim nation?

during the campaign we couldn’t talk about his muslim roots.

when he had a so-called slip of the tongue with George Stephanopolis saying ‘my muslim faith’ it was just a mistake (though how a born again christian does that i am not certain). and, of course, we couldn’t even use his middle name of ‘hussein’ without being excoriated and called racist by the great unhinged.

he and his campaign lemmings did everything they could to emphasize his christianity and de-emphasize the fact that his father was born muslim.

in a town hall on 5/22/08 in boca raton, florida, The One said this:

“My father was basically agnostic, as far as I can tell, and I didn’t know him.” he said.

in september 2008 during a pennsylvania campaign stop, The One said:

“I know that I’m not your typical presidential candidate and I just want to be honest with you. I know that the temptation is to say, ‘You know what? The guy hasn’t been there that long in Washington. You know, he’s got a funny name. You know, we’re not sure about him.’

And that’s what the Republicans when they say this isn’t about issues, it’s about personalities, what they’re really saying is, ‘We’re going to try to scare people about Barack. So we’re going to say that, you know, maybe he’s got Muslim connections.’…Just making stuff up.”

of course by now, we know how it works with this administration: say whatever as winsomely as possible (using the words ‘hope’ and ‘change’ a lot) to whomever to get elected. then, do whatever you fricken want – as quickly as possible – to totally screw the country.

frauds.

now that he’s president – in time for his great speech to muslims in cairo – he admits to his father’s muslim roots, that his dear aunt is going to the haj, and his own history as a muslim.

but wait. it. gets. worse.

in multiple interviews, The One says the US could be viewed as the largest muslim country in the world.

“In an interview with Laura Haim on Canal Plus, a French television station, Mr. Obama noted that the United States also could be considered as “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”

well, his math is fuzzy – we’re not even close to being the largest muslim country. america is still 75% to 80% christian, according to most pollsters, with muslims representing less than 1% of the population.

getting through this upcoming foreign tour may be difficult for me. his endless pandering seems to have no bounds. his apologies to the world? no mas! and his total lack of character and integrity is astonishing to me.

this newly stage crafted ‘muslim and proud of it’ obama deserves to be seriously mocked and roundly ridiculed.

The rightwing has labeled President Obama a Muslim, a Socialist, a Communist, a Terrorist, A Foreign National-everything but a White Man! HA! I have truly never heard such right wing hysteria and hatred. Except for maybe on the abortion thread.

  • Jane says:

It is remarkable that a reasonably intelligent woman such as yourself Kate, does not understand much less respect the need for diplomacy in the middle east. Problems are not always solved with bombs and imperialism you know. So what if Barack chose not to talk about his muslim background during the campaign? The racism, fear, and hysteria generated BY THE RIGHT, was over the top and quite dangerous. He is trying to find “common ground”. I know you hate that but he has a common thread with them and is trying to use it to our benefit. Now deal with it.

  • Micky says:

hah, Theres 1.82 billion Muslims in this world.
According to Pew research 25% of US Muslim youths approve of suicide bombings, The same percentage applies world wide amongst all Muslims. The numbers are much higher in Pakistan and Indonesia where 50% have a favorable view of OBL while also justifying suicide bombing.
Seeing as how those percentages are probably listening to Osamas latest speech blaming us and Obama for fueling more hatred by operations in Pakistan it seems Obamas gonna have to do an awful lot of smooth talking on his trip to not come out looking like anymore a weasel and apologizing appeaser than he already is.
Everything thats been done in the last 8 years could be all for nothing very soon the way this moron is going

  • Micky says:

“I know you hate that but he has a common thread with them and is trying to use it to our benefit. ”

Right, after doing as much as he could during the campaign to hide that thread all of a sudden now its relevant cuz he thinks he’ll bond with these people because he claims to have some alignment with them.
Hes like the white chick that goes to the ghetto and starts talking like a Harlem gangster once she gets there.
    Patronizing moron

  • BikerDan says:

Oh really Jane? Well I guess you just don’t care that you were deceived by this guy. Fine. How about another apology speech given on the TV to every muslim in the ME including AQ and the Taliban? Obama should apologize for all American transgressions since the beginning of time, perceived or real, past, present and future. And why not bow down to a few more despotic leaders while he’s there? Maybe the King of SA can hook him up to Zawahiri, bin Ladin, or even Mullah Omar.

C’mon Obama, make us proud! America is crap. Tell the world! Maybe Europeans will like us now! Maybe terrorists will like us too!

Next week we’re probably gonna find out Obama is Rastafarian and the bastard son of Bob Marley.

Btw Jane and Paul, Obama is not my president and he does not speak for me. He is a disaster and an embarassment. 2012 can’t come soon enough for me.

  • Rope says:

Since when does dipolmacy in the middle east mean calling ourselves one of the largest Muslim countries in the world? And why all of a sudden is he so outspoken about his background when during the campaign you were damned if you brought it up? OH and one more thing why is Saudi his first stop in his latest apology tour? For 8 years all we heard was how bad they were and that W was in bed with them.
    The double standards are amazing!

  • Pat says:

Calm down people. The ability of our country to have and to keep good relations with other nations is tied directly to any power and influence we might have among the leaders and people in those muslim countries, specifically considering the palestinian situation. For 2 decades now, many countries resent our stand with Israel over the lack and suffering of the Palestinians. Thats just the way it is.

So President Obama has to sell the U.S. as being appreciative and respectful of the concerns of people in the Middle East.

  • PenniePan says:

    @ BikerDan
Nice little rant there but Barack Obama IS my president and I’m proud to have an adult in the White House. And if MY PRESIDENT has the courage to go before the world with humility, I am tickled pink over it, because I like it better than the arrogance and bullying we had under that insecure little runt who’s only worth is clearing brush in a dust bowl called Crawford and telling himself the tired old tale that he “freed 50 million people”.

    @ Micky
“Hes like the white chick that goes to the ghetto and starts talking like a Harlem gangster once she gets there.
    Patronizing moron”

Are you the gangster or the patronizing moron?

  • Micky says:

Seeing as how I’ve made it evident that I dont listen to Obama anymore than I would patronizing white women your attempt at making a funny fell flat on its a$$.

Unfortunatly for you Jane GW Bush actually has histiorical factual documented accomplishments that your pink tickly leader doesnt have, and more than likely never will. Unless of course he keeps deciding to use that insecure punks national security policies every chance he gets, which happens to be whenver he doesnt know WTF to do. Obama at this point can only deal in theory and hope.
Bush has a record that is irrefutable when it comes to keeping Americans safe and they have been kept safe even after his term was over due to Obama using those policies.
    Fact.
Who cares how much you admire him and go on with your praise, this we expect.

  • Virginia says:

I don’t really have a problem with the President going to the Middle East to talk to the Muslim World, but 9/11 is never going to leave the mind of people in the US. Although, the US is blamed for any and all things that happen badly in various countries, no one is not taking our money when it comes to aid or trying to help with their problems. If we are not wanted, I believe it is time to consider removing our troops from a number of areas areound the world and let the various countries deal with their problems by any means necessary. I don’t want him apologizing though.

  • Ken says:

“Problems are not always solved with bombs and imperialism you know.”

Neither is it solved with groveling, bowing, or placating enemies. I find it amusing that whenever someone criticizes Obama’s “style” of diplomacy the left automatically screams “you can’t bomb everybody!!”. Nobody ever said you could.

All B.O. is doing is showcasing his weakness as the leader of the free world, and that can never be good.

“The racism, fear, and hysteria generated BY THE RIGHT, was over the top and quite dangerous. ”

Would that be anything like the racism, fear, and hysteria generated by the LEFT for the past 8 years????

“I know you hate that but he has a common thread with them and is trying to use it to our benefit. Now deal with it.”

Interesting you should say that Jane. For if one of us wacko righties had suggested Obama’s muslim ties are a common thread with them you would have called us……..racists. What was it you were saying about hysteria and fear????

“Nice little rant there but Barack Obama IS my president and I’m proud to have an adult in the White House.”

Great. Do let us know when an adult arrives in the White House, I’d love to see him.

“telling himself the tired old tale that he “freed 50 million people”.”

Yeah, its much better to be able to look at your approval ratings and bask in the glow of yourself, rather than freeing 50 million people. Good point.

Isn’t it telling how none of our liberal trolls here bothered to visit the post about PFC. William Long, but they couldn’t wait to race to this post and defend B.O.

    It speaks volumes.

  • Ken says:

Romney hits the nail on the head:

“Britain’s Guardian newspaper noted that Mr. Obama has been more critical of his own country, while on foreign soil, than any other president in American history. That would be a most unfortunate distinction at any time.”

  • Jared says:

Let’s pretend for a moment President Obama is muslim. Would that be so bad?

  • A_Reluctant_Pundit says:

Look, I want our President — be it Obama or someone else — to have an open dialogue with Muslims, North Korea, and all other extremists instead of the “it’s my way or the highway” mentality we had under Bush. The world is a very small place and we have to figure out how to co-exist here. Talking is a good way to start.

  • lazy_suisan says:

i dont have a problem w/ muslims its the crazy muslims you have to worry about just as you have to worry about the crazy christians.

my beef w/ President Obama is that he didnt fully disclose his religious past, not only of himself but of his parents, all for a few points in an election. i say disclose everything ( especially for the Presidents job ) and let the chips fall where they may.

  • Micky says:

    @Reluctant.

As if Bush and his predecessors didnt have dialogue with any of these people before ?
And please, lets stop this underhanded suggestion that Bush said its my way or the highway. What was really said when establishing a coalition was “You’re either with us or against us in the fight against terror ” and as a fact there was plenty of examples of the Bush admin. and those engaged in the WOT who on many occasions were involved in open dialogue as late as Oct 08 with N. Korea only to get us where were at now.
    N. Korea launching missles end on end after testing a nuke.
Osama launching another threat along with blaming Obama for recruiting terrorists.
Iran telling us to go screw ourselves while Obama gives them a pass and tells Israel to go screw themselves as he funds Hamas with 90 million bucks.

“world is a very small place and we have to figure out how to co-exist here”

“THEY” have to figure this out. Weve done enough.
America has done more accepting and compensating for other cultures than any country on the planet.

Yeah, this open dialogue thing is working out real well isnt it ? Like it has in the past ?

  • Paul says:

    @lazy suisan

Thats BS. How many people running for president have given us a blow by blow of their religious history. The man attended a Christian church in Chicago. We know that. Why do we know it? We know it because right wingers and the MSM latched onto the ramblings of the minister. I find it rich that people talk about how extreme his Christian minister is than turn around and wonder if he is a Muslim. Pick one distortion and stick with it for God’s sake.

  • Ken says:

“Let’s pretend for a moment President Obama is muslim. Would that be so bad?”

Nope. Except for the fact that since B.O. came on the scene anyone who questioned his faith was immediately set upon by the lapdogs of the mainstream media as well as the left. How many times was someone accused of being a racist because they used his middle name?

“The man attended a Christian church in Chicago.”

The same church that preached racism and hate. Hmmmmmmmmm.

“I find it rich that people talk about how extreme his Christian minister is than turn around and wonder if he is a Muslim. Pick one distortion and stick with it for God’s sake.”

So he’s a muslim AND a Christian? Which is it? He’s a muslim when it’s convenient then a Christian when it suits him. He uses religion as a business card, he’s a fraud just like everything else he does.

  • Scarlett says:

CBS Reporter Lara Logan made the statement something to the effect that the Muslim world has high expectations of Obama – whatever that means. Anybody care to speculate? The story and transcript is at the link.

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/kyle-drennen/2009/06/03/cbs-s-logan-gushes-over-egyptian-excitement-obama-speech

  • kate says:

    Paul you said:

“Pick one distortion and stick with it for God’s sake.”

well ya thats exactly what we’d like bho to do. thanks for helping to clarify that for us.

  • kate says:

scarlett without even reading it, i would simply imagine its more ‘obama-love’ from the media. does the muslim world have high expectations of obama? ya probably. they surely want him to change our longstanding policy on israel.

  • moonlvr says:

People have more to fear from right-wing republicans than any Muslim. It is a contrast in philosophies while the republicans are the party of fear and hate, Islam is the religion of peace and the largest religion at that.

  • moonlvr says:

Micky you keep yammering and all I hear is blah blah blah. Nice job at being able to spit back comments you lift from the right wing radio and other right wing blogs. Here’s your cookie.

  • Ken says:

“People have more to fear from right-wing republicans than any Muslim.”

That may be the most ignorant statement I’ve ever heard, and on this site, that says alot. Before you scurry away, can you justify that comment please?

“Islam is the religion of peace and the largest religion at that”

Kool aid’s awful strong today, isn’t it?

  • Ken says:

“that the Muslim world has high expectations of Obama – whatever that means. Anybody care to speculate?”

Yeah, they want to see if B.O. is going to bow to the president of Egypt, too.

  • moonlvr says:

Ken just look at all the good “christians” who intimidate, harrass, kill in the name of their God. Roedel as the most recent example of killing a law abiding American. Eric Rudolph, Randy Weaver, Jim Jones, David Koresh, Warren Jeffs, those freaks in Kansas at Westboro Baptis, and on and on.

  • Micky says:

    Moonlvr;
“People have more to fear from right-wing republicans than any Muslim. It is a contrast in philosophies while the republicans are the party of fear and hate, Islam is the religion of peace and the largest religion at that.”

Moonlvr, tell me this doesnt sound like something you lifted right off the head of every deranged moonbat in the land. How original but inaccurate.

    LMAO

  • Micky says:

“Islam is the religion of peace and the largest religion at that.”

Yeah, ever wonder why almost every Muslim country on the planet has struggling economies, little commerce or finacial infrastructure ? or looks like a 3rd world country ? Why among the different denominations have they always been and are still fighting between themselves ? Or carry the worst human and civil rights violations on the planet ? The middle east has been the most turbulent region in the world for centuries. Religion of peace my a$$.

    Please.

  • Ken says:

First of all, moonlvr, you said “right wing republicans” not “Christians”. Much like B.O. does, you attempt to rewrite history.

Secondly, all of the examples you gave still doesn’t even come close to the single event of 9/11.

    Keep trying.

  • moonlvr says:

Ken right-wing republicans are pretty much the same and you know it. 9/11 was horrible but done by 19 men. The long history of violence that the christian right perpetuates is pretty darn scary. Just look at what they do outside of abortion clinics to young confused women! None of them voted for Barack. They would all identify themselves as conservative right-wingers.

  • Ken says:

“9/11 was horrible but done by 19 men.”

And they killed 3,000 people, far more than all of the examples combined that you provided.

“The long history of violence that the christian right perpetuates is pretty darn scary.”

What about the long history of violence of the left, is that acceptable to you?

“Just look at what they do outside of abortion clinics to young confused women!”

What do they do? Try to keep them from killing babies? The horror. I don’t particularly agree with their methods all the time, but painting every conservative christian as a bullying, murdering fanatic is ridiculous.

“None of them voted for Barack.”

That’s really the point, isn’t it? They could pretty much do whatever they wanted as long as they voted for B.O., but they didn’t so they must be demonized.

Right out of the liberal playbook.

“They would all identify themselves as conservative right-wingers.”

As do I, and I’m pretty proud of it.

  • Gina says:

Come on Kate, just ADMIT that you’ve been TAKEN! OBAMA is a MUSLIM! YOU DIDN”T DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE THE EXAM!!!!!

He’s been trying to hide it. But it’s all coming out now. He won’t be able to hide it long enough.

And do you think it’s a good thing to be ‘friends’ with these MUSLIM world? They’ll never be ‘friends’ with you. THEY HATE EVERYBODY WHO IS NOT ONE OF THEM. That’s what their KORAN tells them to do. You don’t have to even do anything and they still hate you. I know because I lived in a MUSLIM nation majority of my life. You cannot let your guard down with these people.

So if anybody there think what BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA is doing with the Saudis is GOOD, why don’t you move over there and leave us here in peace. BARACK will anyway not make it to the NEXT TERM.

SHAME ON OBAMA!!! He’s THE WORST PRESIDENT!!!

  • Micky says:

    Gina.
I’m gonna have to play some kind of advocate here on behalf of Muslims and tell you that you’re wrong.
While there is a vast majority of Muslims that have tweaked Islam to their own convenience I beg you to come with some evidence that “ALL” are like you say.
If we as conservative are going to swat the whole Islamic community with the same brush you just did then we deserve everything we get.
I’ve had and have Muslim friends who are perfectly decent people but of course they were the ones who moved to America to get away from the radical and zealous brands you find in the middle east.
The nice thing about religion (that I actually hate) is that people will adjust its doctrines and applications according to their own convenience and perspectives. The ones that adjust it to justify murder are the ones who are basically just hateful morons looking for a cause to hide it all behind.

You’re not doing us any favors.

  • kate says:

gina among many things, you said this:

‘Come on Kate, just ADMIT that you’ve been TAKEN! OBAMA is a MUSLIM! YOU DIDN”T DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE THE EXAM!!!!!’

frankly i don’t know what the heck you are talking about. i don’t give a rats butt what religion he is (well maybe other then satanist). what i care about is the lies. the deception. the shallowness to say and do whatever is politically expedient at the time. the political philosophy.

i didn’t vote this guy in and have a documented record on my concerns about him. now get a grip and get productive in your comments if you want to have any impact on the left.

  • Gina says:

(Peace Kate. I actually meant JANE!!! My biggest apologies to you. Ha-ha!)

LEFT… RIGHT… go ahead bash each other’s head. Just like the Muslims, they just hate who is not. Don’t care if the other actually make sense or prolific.

You guys immediately gauge – is she LEFT or RIGHT ? I don’t need to have color. I am me. I do my own thinking. I DON”T NEED TO DO ANYBODY A FAVOR.

ADVOCATE, you say? Go ahead, feel free to play advocate in the Muslim world, just do it there. See if you’ll BET YOUR LIFE ON IT.

I don’t tweak Islam. Have you read their Koran? If you haven’t then leave it to the learned.

And you’re right the ones you met are the good. Just like not all people are BAD, not all muslims are BAD. The teaching is.

CAN YOU NAME A MUSLIM COUNTRY THAT DOES NOT HAVE STRIFE WITH NON-MUSLIMS? None.

  • Joy says:

Comparing Radicals of the Middle East to Pro Lifers here in the US is just a little bit absurd don’t you think?

  • Jane says:

Gina well that’s a lovely libertarian speech! Bravo! You are obviously new here. The reality is that we have to, as a people, understand that there are good people, and evil people, in this world and many of the good people are “gasp” Muslims. IMO, this blanket condemnation of a “group” or “race” must stop for us all to survive. There are “Bad” teachings in all of the holy writings in every religion. It’s the people that need moderating.

  • Micky says:

    Gina.
I’m an American citizen and I’ll advocate for anyone I want anytime I want right from where I’m atObviously your dense as hell and cant read to save your life and probably pais as much attention the Muslim world around you as well as you read.
I specifically mentioned to you how certain regions will determione the denomination or brand of Islam some practice. The Muslims I mentioned to you are those that left the middle east probably due to some of the things you experienced.
    Wise up.

“You guys immediately gauge – is she LEFT or RIGHT ? I don’t need to have color. I am me. I do my own thinking. I DON”T NEED TO DO ANYBODY A FAVOR.

I never assumed you were anyhting, did I ? Please shoe me where the assumtion that you were anything but a lunatic was placed ?
All I said was that you’re not doing uis any favors. “US” meaning everyone.

You are exactly what you’re b*tching about.

“CAN YOU NAME A MUSLIM COUNTRY THAT DOES NOT HAVE STRIFE WITH NON-MUSLIMS? ”

    That was brilliant.
CAN YOU NAME A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY THAT DOES NOT HAVE STRIFE WITH NON-CHRISTIANS ?

    ” I DON”T NEED TO DO ANYBODY A FAVOR”

    Even yourself ?

  • Jane says:

    Micky
“I’m an American citizen and I’ll advocate for anyone I want anytime I want right from where I’m atObviously your dense as hell and cant read to save your life and probably pais as much attention the Muslim world around you as well as you read.”

How about before you pick on others’ reading skills, you worry about your own writing and comprehension! You can’t deal with anyone can you?

  • lisab says:

“one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”

    he is going by ego

  • lisab says:

    kate,

like it or not, obama is in the top … oh say … top 100 presidents we have ever had

  • lisab says:

it is silly for moonlvr to claim the pro-life movement supported the murder of tiller in church,

a.) by definition pro-life is against murder

b.) bloodstains are really hard to get out of church tapestries

c.) i for one have been wearing black armbands since he was murdered … well …

    black stockings …

    same thing

  • kate says:

‘(Peace Kate. I actually meant JANE!!! My biggest apologies to you. Ha-ha!)’

gina no worries. people are quite confused on this blog frequently. nice to have you.

  • Dade says:

Well, my conservative friends, I’m afraid all this hysterical talk about President Obama being a secret Muslim just reduces your arguments to white noise. It’s ridiculous and irrelevant.

It is such a relief to have a president that can speak to Islam and be heard. Imagine how Junior would have been received in Cairo. Cairo! Capital city of a nominal ally. Junior was popular with exactly one group of Muslims: the Saudi royal family. Outside the palace, from Riyadh all the way to Indonesia, he was despised and hated. And so, by association, were we.

Electing President Obama has shown the Muslim world that the United States is not dominated by rednecks and bigots.

  • Micky says:

“How about before you pick on others’ reading skills, you worry about your own writing and comprehension! You can’t deal with anyone can you?”

    Yeah right.
Why dont you just for once try addressing me on the issues instead of making it personal ?
You cant. You know why ? Cuz you’re clueless on the issues.
Do you have an objection to me calling someone out for labeling “all” Muslims as hateful of everyone who is not Muslim ?

  • Ken says:

“I’m afraid all this hysterical talk about President Obama being a secret Muslim just reduces your arguments to white noise.”

Thaks for proving our point, Dade. When Obama talks of his muslim ties, there is no problem, when we talk of it it’s “hysterical talk”.

Also, isn’t Egypt where Clinton used to send terrorists to be interrogated? Mainly because they torture people. Oh well, I guess all that talk about human rights was just another campaign ploy. I guess it can join all the other people and promises under the bus, where B.O. has thrown them.

“Electing President Obama has shown the Muslim world that the United States is not dominated by rednecks and bigots.”

Oh, I don’t know about that:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090603/wl_mideast_afp/usmideastdiplomacyarab_20090603200137;_ylt=ArX56ZqaoSVVUSA52OdK6HaCfNdF

“Obama is just a prettier face. I’m sure his intentions are in the right place but I don’t expect much from the man,” a Cairo electrician said on Wednesday as US President Barack Obama began his much-anticipated Middle East trip.”

“There’s nothing more absurd than putting more pressure on the Arab-Muslim world,” Saraya said.”

“He can’t help the Palestinians because of the closeness of ties between Israel and America. He can’t improve the situation here (Egypt) because he’ll never convince the regime to change,” said taxi driver Mohammed Abdullah.”

“They want him to say that he’s going to come down hard on the Israelis, that he’s going to confront the settlement policy and that he’s going to push the Israelis to withdraw from the West Bank. ”

Doesn’t sound like they have much faith in B.O., does it? Perhaps its because they, unlike his supporters here, realize that he’s promising everything to everybody and can’t possibly come through on all of it.

  • Ken says:

“Electing President Obama has shown the Muslim world that the United States is not dominated by rednecks and bigots.”

That reminds me, does anybody know how democratic Senator and former KKK leader Robert Byrd is doing? I heard he has been ill.

  • Stop the madness says:

Dade, you just can’t help yourself. Your admitted personal hatred of Bush leaves you with a seriously warped, myopic view of the world. Repeat after me: “Obama is the president. Obama is the president.”

This clown is not “loved” by the muslim world. His constant and pathetic pandering only underline his weakness. Weakness is not a position from which fruitful, peaceful relationships will result. See Munich 1938.

  • Micky says:

“Electing President Obama has shown the Muslim world that the United States is not dominated by rednecks and bigots.”

Instead its shown the world that it was dominated by those who voted out of hate for one man, not realizing that man couldnt run for office again if he wanted to. You guys couldnt see that Obama was campaigning against Bush, could you ? All he was doing was tapping into your hate for Bush by associating him with McCain as often as he could. Even Obama knew what your partys weakness was, it was hate, he tapped into it pretty well and still does to this day as he gets by on a majority of screw ups each time by blaming the previous admininistration, and you guys eat it up everytime.
Hes just been full of kind of neat little surprises, hasnt he ?

Dade, what really kills me is that you talk about bigotry and then you go ahead and make the bigoted claim that the previous administration and its base were rednecks and bigots ?
Help me to see where you’re not displaying your own brand of bigotry or ignorance .
And what about the majority of our troops that are over there right now that voted for GW Bush in both elections? Do you really want to give anyone in the middle east the impression that most of them are rednecks and bigots ? Or would you be willing to say that most of our troops, republican or democrat are fair minded tolerant guys ?
Trust me man, when it comes right down to it most people in the middle east still see America in the same light no matter whos running it. What ? You think these people dont have memories ? That they dont remember the collosal screw ups of Carter ? The failed peace attempts of Clinton ? And how both of them were carrying the same message that Obama is carrying today ?

Of course the whole Munich 1938 appeasement meme doesn’t even apply here. And we all know how peaceful the world is now, after 8 years of Junior’s cowboy talk.

Ken, there is a difference between having Muslim “ties” as you put it, and being a secret Muslim. Yes, Obama’s father was a Muslim. But his mother was a Christian. And he is a Christian.

Also, to Kate’s point about the US being a “Christian nation.” First of all, the US is not a Christian nation. It is a nation with a majority of Christians. That’s a big difference. Secondly, as the president said, the US could be considered “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world” by virtue of the fact that millions (yes, millions!) of Muslims live here.

Do you know which is the largest Muslim nation in the world? I’ll tell you: it’s India. India has more Muslim’s than any other nation. And yet, the majority of Indians are Hindu. Capiche?

  • Dade says:

Micky, you are right. I should not have used the terms “rednecks and bigots.” I stand corrected.

  • Micky says:

    Its Indonesia Dade, not India.

  • Dade says:

D’oh! Two mistakes in one day!

  • Ken says:

“Secondly, as the president said, the US could be considered “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world” by virtue of the fact that millions (yes, millions!) of Muslims live here.”

No, it couldn’t. As far as percentage wise, Muslims make up about 3% of the population. By sheer numbers the United States isn’t even in the top 50 nations of Muslim citizens.

Also, India is not the largest Muslim nation in the world, Indonesia is.

Everything else aside, once again, Obama doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about.

Ah, Micky beat me to it.

  • Micky says:

” As the Holy Koran tells us, “Be conscious of God and speak always the truth.” That is what I will try to do – to speak the truth as best I can, humbled by the task before us, and firm in my belief that the interests we share as human beings are far more powerful than the forces that drive us apart. ”

I really wish he would of said “my bible” instead of Holy Koran. Whos god is he appealing to ?

“And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality. ”

Yeah, deeds ? they’ll whack your head off if you convert to Christianity.

” Islam is not part of the problem in combating violent extremism – it is an important part of promoting peace.”

If only they’d get off their arses and speak out and do something against extremism then this statement might have some weight.

“I also believe that events in Iraq have reminded America of the need to use diplomacy and build international consensus to resolve our problems whenever possible. Indeed, we can recall the words of Thomas Jefferson, who said: “I hope that our wisdom will grow with our power, and teach us that the less we use our power the greater it will be.”

Please, Saddam had the opportunity to take advantage of years of diplomacy coming from Clinton, months of diplomatic opportunities with Bush only to end being faced with an international consensus that said he had to go.
Would of been nice if he mentioned that it was that power that gave Iraq the present forms of democracy and human rights that its never had before.

” It is easier to blame others than to look inward ”

You might want to take some of your own advice there buddy

  • Paul says:

“And how can this be? For Obama is the Kwisatz Haderach!”

Actually what he wants to convince the Muslim world is that he is “Al Mahdi”.

And many are being convinced of just that.

Our country was founded on Christian principles, I am a Christian and the majority of our country is Christian. As far as I’m concerned, he doesn’t speak for me and the 75 to 85% of christians in America. Why does he always have to go to foreign countries and shame us in this way. He was so ashamed to admit that he was Muslim when he was campaigning, now he wants to embrace the Muslim religion. Hypocrite. I am also upset that he would break the timed honored tradition of attending church on National Day of Prayer, and stayed home and “honored” it in his own way.
