U.S. Troops In Syria Attacked, Killed And Wounded

News reports have confirmed that two U.S. soldiers and an American civilian interpreter have been killed and three U.S. troops were wounded in an attack by a lone ISIS terrorist. U.S. Central Command confirmed that the ISIS terrorist has been neutralized by partner troops.

The U.S. troops were conducting meetings with senior Syrian leaders near the central city of Palmyra. This is a typical, but dangerous function of our troops. My Marine Dad handled this in Korea and my son did this in Afghanistan.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth reacted to this attack first, according to Newsweek:

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on Saturday confirmed that the man who led an attack that killed two U.S. Army soldiers and one civilian in Syria had been killed by “partner forces” during the attack.

“The savage who perpetrated this attack was killed by partner forces,” Hegseth wrote in a message posted on X. “Let it be known, if you target Americans—anywhere in the world—you will spend the rest of your brief, anxious life knowing the United States will hunt you, find you, and ruthlessly kill you.”

The current President of Syria is former terrorist Ahmed al-Sharaa. The former President Bashar al-Asaad was driven out of the country because he was a vicious and brutal dictator. He is living in Moscow, but his wife doesn’t care for Moscow and is divorcing him.

The United States has about 900 troops currently deployed to Syria and one of my nephews was one of them last year.

We have no information about those killed and wounded and we won’t until the notifications are fulfilled.

Time Magazine reported:

Syria’s state news agency said two Syrian military personnel were also injured in the attack.

Tom Barrack, U.S. ambassador to Turkey and the Trump Administration’s special envoy to Syria, also condemned the attack and paid tribute to the soldiers.

We mourn the loss of three brave U.S. service members and civilian personnel and wish a speedy recovery to the Syrian troops wounded in the attack,” Barrack said in a statement. “We remain committed to defeating terrorism with our Syrian partners.”

The attack comes just a month after Syria and the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS announced a political cooperation agreement during Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s visit to the White House.

Syrian Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa said at the time that the agreement confirmed Syria’s role in “combating terrorism and supporting regional stability”

Soon, Middle East countries are going to have to do for themselves.

President Trump delivered a statement on his way to the Army-Navy game in Baltimore per the AP:

AMASCUS, Syria (AP) — President Donald Trump said Saturday that “there will be very serious retaliation” after two U.S. service members and one American civilian were killed in an attack in Syria that the United States blames on the Islamic State group.

“This was an ISIS attack against the U.S., and Syria, in a very dangerous part of Syria, that is not fully controlled by them,” he said in a social media post.

The American president told reporters at the White House that Syria’s president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, was “devastated by what happened” and stressed that Syria was fighting alongside U.S. troops. Trump, in his post, said al-Sharaa was “extremely angry and disturbed by this attack.”

We will retaliate.

The Army-Navy Game is the most important rivalry in our nation. This morning proved the truth of both sides are willing to lay down their lives for you.
