Audio of what has now been dubbed “The Hillary Tapes” have gone viral, causing understandable outrage across the nation. In the tapes, Hillary Clinton talks about a legal case from her time as a public defender, where she defended the rapist of a 12-year-old girl, and laughs as she remembers how she exploited loopholes and discredited the victim in order to get him off on a light sentence. It was Clinton’s job as a public defender to defend the man, yes — but it is chilling to hear her not only speak cavalierly, but laugh, about a case that was a shocking miscarriage of justice, and further destroyed a child’s life by Hillary’s own doing. Who would be proud of that? What kind of person would laugh and cheerfully recall the time they smeared a 12-year-old rape victim? Certainly not the crusader for women and families that Hillary Clinton makes herself out to be.
