I don’t know what spring is looking like in your neck of the woods right now, but my winter has been cold and wet. I’m just starting to see little green leaves unfurling themselves and cherry blossoms budding and blooming with the promise of warmer days and sunshine. Spring is coming.

Baseball, that most American of sports, is back as of today (though most teams will start play on Monday).
Baseball has the power to contain hopes and dreams.
And in our darkest, saddest moments, baseball has the power to uplift and unite.
(If that last video doesn’t tear at your heart, please check your pulse.)
Our reward for surviving the long, cold winter is green grass, blue skies, nights illuminated by stars and floodlights, and the sounds of people rising as one to cheer for their chosen team.
Pass the peanuts and Cracker Jack. Baseball is back!
