On the surface, the triple threat of Mexican drug cartels, ISIS, and Ebola would seem to have no correlation. This three-headed hydra would appear to be three unrelated monsters, all individual threats in their own right, but having essentially nothing in common. Mexican drug rings, though they certainly carry out their drug smuggling operations throughout the US with impunity and have recently threatened American citizens with retaliation if they protested the unsecured border with Mexico, still maintain their home bases in Mexico:
Conservative activists who planned to protest against illegal immigration and President Obama’s immigration policies on Saturday said they had canceled all events after receiving death threats from Mexican drug cartels.
In August, a similar protest was canceled after organizers claimed they had been threatened by Mexican drug cartels. The organizer of that 30-vehicle “Border Convoy”, Eric Odom, canceled a rally meant for El Paso in Texas but did not specify which cartel might have threatened his group.
“We had to cancel that because of death threats against our crew and convoy,” he told the Guardian. “We’re not into that. We are a very peaceful convoy and we want to show that the border is very dangerous and open.”
ISIS is largely preoccupied with toppling Middle Eastern governments and setting up their Islamic caliphate there (though they have called for lone wolf attacks on Americans at home and abroad-specifics were given on how to attack Westerns):
“Rig the roads with explosives for them. Attack their bases. Raid their homes. Cut off their heads. Do not let them feel secure. Hunt them wherever they may be. Turn their worldly life into fear and fire. Remove their families from their homes and thereafter blow up their homes.”
Ebola with its resemblance to the virulent bubonic plaque during the 14th century, is still ravaging numerous countries in Africa (with fears of spreading to Somalia) but is contained to that continent for the present:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Sierra Leone, which is battling to contain the deadly Ebola virus, will stop new rotations of its U.N.-led forces into Somalia for now as authorities move to establish safeguards, Somalia’s president said on Monday.
Sierra Leone is one of the key countries contributing troops to the Africa Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM), which is helping battle Islamic militant al Shabaab insurgents there.
They’re all lethal and threaten directly, or indirectly, American citizens. However, it doesn’t take too much imaginative effort to identify the one commonality they all share: none of them recognize national borders. Before this correlation is dismissed as hyperbole, this brings us to the chilling interview with Texas rancher Cuban “Rusty” Monsees, who recently stated to Oathkeepers:
“We get kids. We get adults. The cartel is bringing across, importing people from as far away as the Mediterranean. I’ve talked to agents and they picked up some characters from Somalia, Iran, Iraq, Syria… anything that you can think of these agents are having to deal with.”
That’s right. Somalia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Mexico. It seems fairly easy to connect the proverbial dots of murder, mayhem, and mass destruction and its very real implications regarding the contentious issue of our porous southern border with Mexico. If the southern border is not secured sooner than later, this three-headed hydra stands a chance of taking up residence here; and that’s illegal immigration no one wants.
