I confess I am amused. Almost a week after the inauguration, the Democrats are trying to figure out what to do next. Their tidal wave of losses in 2016 (down ticket went Republican also) makes the party nervous. So as part of their strategy for the next two years, the Democrats are trying to reach out to these icky little people who voted for Trump. There is this minor problem: Democrats live and work and rarely venture out of their comfort zone or bubble. So, they have a conference this week to discuss strategy and branding. Politico lists the sessions here and they have to figure out how to talk to real people. On a side note, the Democrats branded themselves for the people and the irony is almost painful. Funny but painful.
Senate Democrats geared up for battle with President Donald Trump by preparing to talk to people who voted for him — and by hearing from one of his arch-nemeses.
Hmmm, one may ask if they ever did this in the past but then I look at my state’s Senators: Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters. And not seeing them walking through factories (UAW halls and universities yes) or in a tool and die shop or showing up on the West side of Michigan much. Unless it is an election year. So maybe this is needed. But wait there is more!
Maybe you’ve heard of the “Raging Grannies”. They’re not just a bunch of guano-loco old ladies, though they are indeed that. They are actually “social justice” activist…
