Never let a good crisis go to waste, right? And the crisis at hand is Hurricane Sandy. It’s only a little over a week until the election, and October’s jobs report is due on Friday. Only the Labor Department has decided that, because of Hurricane Sandy, they won’t be releasing the jobs report. Not until after the election… conveniently enough.
The U.S. Labor Department on Monday said it hasn’t made a decision yet on whether to delay Friday’s October jobs report, the final reading on the labor market before next week’s federal elections.
A Labor official said the agency will assess the schedule for all its data releases this week when the “weather emergency” is over.
The Census Bureau is apparently holding off on releasing its economic report, too. And look at how gosh-darn convenient that is for Obama! The reports will surely be dismal, as usual, and we can’t have those coming out right before Election Day and hampering Obama’s chances for reelection, can we?
And it’s not because the reports aren’t ready. As Ed points out,
Just to remind everyone, the national monthly jobs reports are not collated from the states. They are compiled from two surveys conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Establishment Survey (businesses) and the Household Survey. Those have already been conducted by this time in the month, and the data is being collated and analyzed for Friday’s report.
It seems obvious that if these reports showed good numbers, Obama would be trumpeting them over and over and over again before the election to bolster his chances. Instead, they’re getting buried. What does that tell you?
Being that he’s a thuggish Chicago crooked politician who brought along his band of corruptocrats with him to the White House, these shenanigans aren’t surprising. It doesn’t make them any less disgusting though.
