Mugshots of #Baltimore Police Released, Does This Change the Narrative?

The mugshots of the six Baltimore police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray were released this evening. Three of them are white, three of them are African-American.

The six officers: (top, left to right) Caesar Goodson Jr., Garrett Miller, Brian Rice; (bottom, left to right) Edward Nero, Alicia White, William Porter

Goodson was the driver of the police van, and is charged with second degree murder in Gray’s death. Porter, Rice, and White are all charged with involuntary manslaughter.

This should remove the racial element from the case and make it a clear question of excessive police force.

Or, at least, it should.

Well, it should make rational people question the narrative being pushed, and start having a conversation on the exercise of police authority over anyone in their custody. And as for people who still want to push the narrative – well, they have a lot of convoluted explaining to do.

The officers have all been released on bail.
