Mike Huckabee the ex-governor and talk show host is a walking talking example of hubris. He is a minor celebrity who knows what is best for all us little people or so he believes. The guy believes the advice he so eagerly proffers to his audience (yes calling him Elmer Gantry is accurate). And like most of my friends, I laugh at him when he acts the fool but then he goes way over the edge into quackery and foolery. Former governor Huckabee decided to “tackle health care” a while back because nobody is trying to do that.
He is inconsistent in his solutions: Prevention means increased access to medical providers. Which is the thing that catches these diseases early enough to help slow or stop the disease entirely.
Cost? I guess human suffering means less than containing costs while doing business as usual? A war on diseases? Because we “cured polio.” Actually Mikey, we did not cure polio: Dr. Salk found a vaccine to prevent Polio. The World Health Organization reminds us that:
There is no cure for polio, it can only be prevented. Polio vaccine, given multiple times, can protect a child for life.
And then Dr. Salk founded an institute which is looking for cures for….. Alzheimers, Cancer, Diabetes and Heart disease along with all sorts of conditions. So Huckabee tweeted this:
Prevention is better than intervention; treating disease after it hits is unsustainable; spend the money on CURING the most costly diseases.
