Where’s the Sisterhood? Dem Women Diss Ayaan Hirsi-Ali and Asra Nomani. [VIDEO]

So much for the beloved “sisterhood” that Democratic feminists like to rave about. Their true colors emerged at a Senate hearing last week.

Here’s what happened in DC. Two women of color, both immigrants and activists, both academics, testified before a Senate committee. Sounds like just the type of women Democrats love to trot out, right? Nope. Not only was their testimony in the nearly two-hour hearing limited to 15 minutes, these women were ignored by female Democrats.

Who were the two women? They were Ayaan Hirsi-Ali and Asra Nomani. Hirsi-Ali grew up in a strict Muslim family in Somalia and later fled to the Netherlands. Nomani was born in India and raised in the United States, but also in a strict Muslim family. However, both women became prominent academics, and are now vocal activists who oppose the degradation of women by radical Islamism.

So you’d think that feminist-leaning Democratic women would be eager to hear their testimony, right? After all, aren’t liberal women concerned about things like rape culture and the demeaning of women? Well, you’d think. Instead, female Senators Kamala Harris, Heidi Heitkamp, Maggie Hassan, and Claire McCaskill brushed off Hirsi-Ali and Nomani. McCaskill even expressed her contempt of the need for such a hearing, sneering, “Anyone who twists or distorts religion to a place of evil is an exception to the rule. We should not focus on religion.” She began to lecture Hirsi-Ali and Nomani about “freedom of religion.”

Claire McCaskill.

Well, that’s rich, coming from someone who backed Obamacare and its attacks on the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Hirsi-Ali responded:

“The part [of Islam] that is a political doctrine consists of a worldview, a system of laws, and a moral code that is totally incompatible with our constitution, our laws, and our way of life.”

Nomani added:

“The ideology of Islamism contradicts the constitutional values of this country. The elements of Islamism are very clear.”

No matter. In essence the Democratic female senators put their fingers in their ears and sang, “La-la-la.”
