Sunday Morning Cafe Cocktails

Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

Happy Sunday, dear friends! Happy Mother’s Day. Before we start passing the plates, please lift up your flute of bubbly and let’s toast to Mothers. Our own, here or past, and to all the brave women who raised us, worry about us, and love us to pieces. To Mom!

It’s been a week, don’t you know. A preview, in many ways, of what the summer is going to bring. Whether it is masked hooligans or even elected hooligans, the Democrats across the board are going to create chaos. My weekly cribsheet is chockfull of forehead-smacking behavior from the portside loons. Pass the pastries and dig into the bacon, dears, and let’s get to it. L’Chaim!

Socialist? Bernie is more of an old-style Soviet commie

He’s more important than you, comrade. He deserves private jets and several dachas. Give him some credit … he is so assured of his own station in life he isn’t afraid to tell you so.

My shocked face has blocked me and won’t return my calls

Mail-in ballots you say?

One of the women accused of stealing and fraudulently casting more than a dozen ballots ahead of last November’s election pleaded guilty Monday.

Vicki Stuart, 64, was charged with 34 counts related to the ballot theft scheme, which occurred in the lead-up to last year’s presidential election. She pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft and one count of forgery in the 21st Judicial District Court. (snip)

The scheme was uncovered when some voters alerted authorities after the Colorado Ballot tracking system informed them their ballots were being processed, even though they hadn’t received their ballots yet. State officials said three of the stolen ballots that were cast fraudulently did make it through the signature verification process and were counted as legitimate votes.

At the time of the theft, Stuart was working as a U.S. Postal Service employee in Grand Junction with direct access to ballots that had been sent in the mail in October of 2024.

Universal mail-in ballots are ripe for fraud. It’s why Democrats start screeching voter suppression! at any talk of restricting them. Oh, let me wax a little conspiratorial here. I believe we’d see way fewer elected Democrats if having the voter integrity of, say, Iceland, were standard in America.

Archeology has sold its soul to the Devil

Remember how ‘the world’ was shocked by the blatant destruction of the ancient Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan by the Taliban in 2001? No history that was un-Islamic would be suffered to exist.

This attitude exists when it comes to Jewish historical sites, too. Not by the Taliban this time, but by so-called mainstream Archeology.

When it comes to Jewish historical sites in the holy land, even your most “moderate” academic seems to turn into ISIS—a destructive force seeking a new and permanent dark age. (snip)

In late April, the Press Service of Israel (TPS) covered the blacklisting of researchers who study ancient sites in Judea and Samaria, because the area is over the “green line” and thus considered occupied territory by the UN. Now, one might suggest that, occupied or not, the preservation and exploration of history is pretty important.

And it is—which is why those who undertake it get blacklisted if their areas of study encompass Jewish historical sites.

“This boycott is very clever,” Moshe Gutman, head of a preservation nonprofit, told the news service. “After having publications rejected repeatedly, archaeologists learn to avoid Judea and Samaria entirely. The scientific community is effectively driven away from the area.”

Indeed, the story is full of examples of academics and researchers losing their standing, access, and career paths for the crime of even participating in studies of ancient Israel. The idea is simple, if diabolical: Even if a few archaeologists defy the ban, they’ll have nowhere to publish their findings.

We see this trick of the Left across all disciplines. If one ignores “X”, “X” doesn’t really exist. And if you make claims about “X”, the naysayers can just say, “Well, evidence of “X” doesn’t exist so SHUT UP about “X”.”

More consequences of Creepy Joe’s open border

The 20 million illegal aliens the Biden admin allowed in are quite the diverse lot. Yet the Democrat MS-13 caucus would have everyone believe it’s just ‘brown’ people and HOW DARE we oppose such hardworking Maryland men?

How the Democrats define “Our Democracy”

Vote our way or suffer …

Full Text:

Rep. Van Orden will be missing votes tomorrow and rescheduling his upcoming town hall due to a credible threat made against his wife, children, and grandchildren. The threat was delivered via a letter to his D.C. office and has been reported to the appropriate authorities.

No elected official, regardless of political party affiliation, should have to worry about the safety of their family while serving the American people. Threats of political violence are not just dangerous — they are anti-American.

This type of behavior is the direct result of increasingly radical and violent rhetoric fueled by far-left Democrats who encourage hatred rather than healthy discourse. It is a poison on our nation and every Member of Congress — Republican or Democrat — should fully condemn it when they see it.

The Congressman looks forward to returning to D.C. to do the job the people of Wisconsin’s Third District elected him to do.

Your Sunday smile

Every time I read of a young person stepping up to do what is right and necessary, I have great hope for the future.

Dear friends, I’m sad to say our brunch today is over. But the rest of Sunday is yours to enjoy. Go hug mom or call her or pray for her. It is her day and all our days are short. I look forward to seeing you all next week, dear friends. Cheers!
