Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

Happy Sunday, dear friends! Well, this past week has been one for the books. Not even halfway into the New Year and between Creepy Joe’s farewell tour and the Los Angeles basin engulfed in flames, the phrase of the week would appear to be FUBAR. I do admit to a tiny bit of schadenfreude watching the panicky game of pin-the-blame-on-the-closest-donkey with Gov. Hairgel and Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass spending more time has blaming each other than in fighting the fires.

Dears, I always have champaign with our lavish brunch, but this past week I’m also offering up a full bar.

Too early for martinis? Let’s get to it. L’Chaim!

Legacy media is busy trying to circle the wagons around CA Democrat politicians. Facts keep getting in their way.

Not all cultures are equal

Weirdly, it is taken for granted that Judaism was a huge leap forward for the status of women. And those Judeo-Christian, Bible-based values are foundational to modern Western civilization. And it is all being thrown away.

It gets worse

Helluva job, Gavin!

Let’s start from the top. The Los Angeles County Fire Department sent a load of their “surplus” gear to Ukraine in 2022, because it felt right to do that. From KTLA in 2022: “Boots, hoses, nozzles, body armor and medication were among the items packed and shipped out.” Don’t need extra of those. You’re welcome, Slava Ukraini!

And don’t forget: Growing firefighter diversity has been the main priority for the LA department of late, with a whole special equity bureau. And much has been made of the beautiful rainbow leading the department, run by a lesbian. Should I care that a lesbian saves me lesbianly? You might say, you’re already a woman married to a woman, you’re doing enough. But it’s true: Unless the firefighter is singing “Come to My Window,” I won’t get on the ladder.

And what’s an LA story without unchecked crime? With all first responders tied up, into the breach ran those who love chaos and want more homes to loot. Friend of The Free Press Andrew Huberman took this video of a group of men starting a new fire. And of course, there are missing hydrants all over the city because people have been stealing them for years. “Between January 2023 and May 2024, more than 300 fire hydrants were stolen from LA County streets, according to data from the Golden State Water Company, which manages the fire hydrants.” Some of the hydrants are sold as scrap metal. Residents are asked to call if they notice a missing hydrant.

And we thought the Keystone Kops went out of fashion in the 1920s.

Males-in-dresses lose in Federal Court

Nice to have a win against the Transgender Cult once in a while.

Riley Gaines, a student-athlete who competed against a male in college swimming, also lauded the ruling.

“Huge win for girls and women everywhere!!! This morning, a federal court ruled in favor of reality. Biden’s Title IX rewrite has been vacated nationwide. Common sense is slowly returning,” Thank you, [Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti]!”

There are still heroes among us.

Complete text:

The man on the left, Robert Trinkkeller, is a hero. By the grace of God he stayed behind when the evacuation order was given. When I called the man on the right, our neighbor, in Boston to be sure his 94 year-old father had been evacuated, he was devastated that a replacement caregiver had left his father behind. Sara and I couldn’t get back up through police barricades, so I called Robert and managed to get him. By the time he got to the elderly father’s house, the house next store was ablaze. I had gotten through to the Fire Services finally, and they met Robert who guided them to the father. His son flew out immediately and today all three of us and Sara put out the fires on our hillside with buckets of pool water. If you are blessed to have such wonderful neighbors, you are luckier than you know.

Yikes! This morning has flown by! I so enjoy our time together — good food, good drink and good friends. What’s not to love? Now go and enjoy the rest of your Sunday and we’ll meet here again next week. Cheers!

Good stuff Darleen, and glad that James Woods has good neighbors. He truly is a voice in the wilderness out there in Hollywood..
