Most people acquainted with sci-fi author Robert Heinlein understand the phrase “The Crazy Years”. He created a future history timeline and on it is a period of rapid technological advance coupled with a complete shift in society’s economics and morals. Today, Crazy Years seems tame to what’s happening in real life.
We do need get out of our comfort zone and do something about the crazies because ignoring them for the last 50 plus years has got us to today. And few publications can be so blatant with the Left’s gaslight project as Salon when it stands in the chaos it helped create and points to the Right and says “THEY’RE THE BAD GUYS!”.
Since at least the 1960s, the American right has worked to create a parallel set of civil society institutions: think tanks, interest groups, foundations, educational institutions, many forms of media, churches and religious communities and much more. Their ultimate goal all along has been to transform American society to fit their vision.
Liberals, progressives, and others who believe in a genuine democracy and humane society have no comparable network of institutions.
Wait, what? There is enough gas in those two paragraphs to heat Juno, Alaska during the next 50 winters.
If you feelz that prior to the 1960s that Left and the rest of the Progressive anti-American values crowd were the benevolent drivers of American culture, I want you to go outside right now and tell me what the color of the sky is for you. Because it was the 1960s in which the Left took up where Woodrow Wilson and FDR stopped and started its neo-Marxist march through American institutions. And is there any word or phrase capable of dealing with Salon propagandist extraordinaire, Chauncey Devega’s, low-down, bald-faced, puss-filled, diseased lie that the Left has no comparable institutions to the few non-left ones.
Can we say Hollywood? BigTech? Academia? Teachers’ Unions? Federal Civil Service? Intelligence Communities? Corporate “News” Media? WEF? United Nations? Brussels? Canada?
Compare post-1960s American culture with even just the 1940s and try again to say it is the EVIL AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE who is trying to fundamentally transform America.
Last I looked, Obama’s no rightwinger.
But what Chauncey is trying is the usual disgusting Leftwing schtick. Tell anyone who complains about Leftwing institutions to “hey, go make your own [school, movie, music, college, etc] and the minute there is any success, try and shut it down by any means necessary. Hence Chauncey’s fact-free attack on Dennis Prager and PragerU.
We’ve dealt with Chauncey before, you see. He’ll never be happy until he can head up the post-American Ministry of Truth.
Today’s popular culture isn’t just Leftwing, but that driving subset of anti-Western wokeness that looks at some of the most benign cultural institutions and see things that must be destroyed.
Like women. First, let’s bag on anything doing with :::gasp::: romantic love, even in a fairy tale.
Disney picked a Latina woman who hates Snow White to play Snow White pic.twitter.com/trInBYb3nX

It just gets worse and worse….
The new Snow White says that the Prince was a creepy stalker and suggests that all scenes of the Prince could be cut

Go ahead and watch the 1937 Snow White film again because I don’t know what little Miss Maria Susana, Girl Boss, was snorting when she saw it, but the Prince 1) is not a stalker 2) it is the love between the two that ‘saves her’. In the 1937 cartoon, Snow White is brave, resourceful, commanding as well as good natured and hard working. That she wishes to share her life with someone she loves is a sign of maturity, not “Patriarchy”. She meets the Prince in the kind of “cute meet” that has been the staple of romance and rom-coms for decades.
Ever notice how rom-coms over the last few years have become something one must apologize for or agonize over?
It ain’t “The Right” telling women that marriage is drudgery, that wanting love is just soooo 1937, that women are non-men, males can change into females by mere declaration and if any girl or woman is disturbed by having a penis waved in front of them, they are the ones who are the problem.
Is it any wonder that clusters of girls want to lop off their tits and not be tempted to succumb to deadly romance?
And she-hag Hillary has the audacity to write about the loneliness of young people.
From Salon to Snow White, the Left is in control while telling you it’s really Moms For Liberty and PragerU that are the problem. When you next see some actress flaunt her young son in a dress or show off the scars left after have her breasts removed, ask ’em who they voted for.
‘Nuf said.

Miss Maria Susana doesn’t seem to be the type to be playing innocent Snow White. She might be better in a film about or in Dallas.
I don’t understand why they have to pick a well-known fairy tale to crap on and re-invent.
Why not just write a new story?
Because that’s how leftists and progressives work, Liz. They don’t invent anything new, they take what exists and corrupt it for their own ends.
I can’t recall where I’ve read it, but it was said that leftist progs will insinuate themselves into institutions and take them over from the inside to promote their ends, which was described as “like a a parasite, hollowing it out from the inside and then parading around in its skin.”
So here, the centuries old institution of fairy tales for children, told in a way to promote imagination, good outcomes, and “happily ever after”, is being similarly corrupted.
In B. F. Skinner’s book “Brave New World”, children are (literally!) produced and raised by the government. At one point I recall the book describes how children are taught through electric shock to fear cute pictures of baby animals and flowers that they would normally be attracted to so they can be properly indoctrinated to love only the state. I think the leftists use this book as an instruction manual.
If there was a “like” button I’d like this (and GWB’s below).
You’re not wrong.
I believe the quote you were looking for is from David Burge:
1. Identify a respected institution.
2. kill it.
3. gut it.
4. wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect.
David Burge, aka Iowa hawk, aka a National Treasure! 🙂
My memory is going – Brave New World was written by Aldous Huxley, not B.F. Skinner. As you age, they say memory is the first thing to go… or is it the second? I can’t remember.
Aside from George’s great answer, there’s also probably an attempt to keep the intellectual property safe and under their purview. Though I don’t see how it’s logically possible, several have made the argument.
Hence Chauncey’s fact-free attack
Oh, it’s Chauncey. Why didn’t you say so in the first place? LOL
Projection is his(?) middle name.
Oh, and let’s not call it “fact-free.” Let’s use the correct word: lies. From beginning to end, it’s all lies to produce that Year Zero effect so beloved of Maoists.
Most people acquainted with sci-fi author Robert Heinlein understand the phrase “The Crazy Years”.
And for those of you who never read “Starship Troopers”, the Crazy Years came to an abrupt end when a bunch of veterans got together and started killing the criminals.
