As I wrote about back in March, Rush Limbaugh was nominated for the Children’s Book Council Choice Awards in the Author of the Year category. This caused a lot of wailing on the part of the media. Rush now has two books out in his “Rush Revere” series, and his first book, Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims, was the book that earned him the nomination.
Last night, the winners were announced.
Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh won the “Author of the Year Award” at the Children’s Choice Book Awards for his book Rush Revere and The Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans, in which Rush Revere and a talking horse named Liberty travel back in time to visit the pilgrims. …
In accepting the honor, Limbaugh said, “I love America. I wish everybody did. I hope everybody will. It’s one of the most fascinating stories in human history…and it’s a delight and it’s an opportunity to try to share that story with young people so they can grow and learn to love and appreciate the country in which they’re growing up and will someday run and lead and inherit.”
If you want some entertainment, just read the comments sections on the articles reporting Rush’s win. They are… amusing, to say the least.
Congratulations to Rush Limbaugh on his well-deserved win!
I didn’t want to be entertained that badly, LOL. Good lord, the crazies are on that comments section.
I have the book and it is excellent. The illustrations and historical maps etc. are well done, as is the story. Looking forward to having time to read the second book that is now available.
I’ve heard a couple of youngsters call Rush Limbaugh. Enthused? Yes. About history? Yes. It was quite heart-warming hearing their conversations. That this is happening is inspiring. That Rush won this is great and I’m glad for him. That there are probably “heads exploding” that he won, well I think that’s just funny!
We just got this book a couple weeks ago, and the pecking order says it’ll be a month before I can get my hands on it. You know it had to just about kill NPR to run that semi-positive review; they went out of their way to mention that critics panned the book but it is loved by the public.
Long ago I learned that NPR is to literature and politics what Rolling Stone is to music and culture: pretentious, shallow, and trendy. If they don’t like it, it’s probably right up my alley.
The sound you now hear are progressives’ heads exploding.
Still…I half expect that the Children’s Book Council will be pressured into rescinding the award. In the Age of STFU no dissent from leftist orthodoxy can be tolerated.
There were those who pressured CBC to have Rush’s book removed from competition for the award. To their credit, the CBC would have none of it with a note of thanks due to them for maintaining their resolve. And, I don’t mind if Rush “brags” a bit. He’s accomplished more with these books than a certain other person has in 5 1/2 years!
Already, AP is claiming (without proof, of course) that Limbaugh cheated to win. Can attempts to file legal charges for fraud be far behind?
Call me the cynic of all cynics, but I would not underestimate the ability of the Far Left to get its way. At the very least the progressives can severely damage the Children’s Book Council through smears and innuendo.
I’m not seeing any comments on the CNN story. Could it be my browser? Or have they taken them down?
