It’s no surprise that Americans are furious about this health care monstrosity passed on Sunday and signed into law by Obama today. Democrats know this, but I think that they were banking on quiet complicity from the citizenry. I don’t think that many of them believed they’d actually be held responsible for it. And which Democrat probably feels safest at all? Nancy Pelosi, Madam Speaker herself. She’s in a safe district, after all. But even if she can rest assured that she’s likely to be reelected, we can ensure that we never have to hear the words “Speaker Pelosi” ever again.

And with that in mind, the RNC had a stroke of genius and launched FireNancyPelosi.com. Twitter has been ablaze with the hashtag #FIREPELOSI, and the website has been an amazing success. It’s really caught on.

As Pelosi and her entourage crowed about their seizure of 1/6th of our economy, the RNC launched http://www.FireNancyPelosi.com -a money bomb designed to raise funds for one purpose: unseating Speaker Pelosi by winning 40 new Republican Congressional seats this November. Inspired by the firm, principled leadership of House GOP members like John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Paul Ryan, and an impassioned television appearance of RNC Chairman Michael Steele, TCOT activists organized themselves and took to the web, ready to make a difference.

With barely any advance advertising (ads only went up late Monday morning), these digital patriots adopted the #FirePelosi hashtag. http://www.newds.biz, which tracks conservative-leaning tweets, had “Fire Pelosi” at the top of their rankings within hours. Over 150 people per-hour were using GOP.com’s Tweet-Bomb to announce their donations and, to get the Fire Pelosi banner on the Twitter avatars. On Monday morning, “Fire Pelosi” was on Google Trends, and hours later, RNC and GOP had become ranked fourth and fifth on the same list. Embeddable widgets provided on the site were quickly posted on pages all over the internet, and less than 12 hours after Pelosi passed her disastrous bill , the RNC blew past its fundraising goal of $402,010. (We’ve since set a new goal at http://www.FireNancyPelosi.com.) Monday at 8:00, we were closing in on our second fundraising goal of $842,010.

They’ve surpassed that goal of $842,010 already. The site was launched almost immediately after the Obamacare bill was passed in the House — on Sunday — and by this evening, they’ve raised over one million dollars. And they even have a map of the United States, with each state labeled by their donation totals. The header? “Who wants to fire Speaker Pelosi the most?”.

It’s amazing, and it should give all of us a little bit of hope. THe American people aren’t just angry — they’re mobilized and ready for political combat. Obama, Pelosi, and the Democrats clearly thought they could just force this down our throats and suffer no consequences, but they thought wrong. FireNancyPelosi.com proves that.

What is worrying is what the RNC will do with this fundraising effort. Showing our displeasure via our checkbooks will get the attention of everyone in DC. But will the GOP finally listen to their constituents? Will they be backing conservative candidates who are committed to repealing Obamacare? I’d like to believe that they might have learned something over the past year, but politicians are pretty dense. We’ll need to stay on guard and make sure that we aren’t just putting more RINOs in office, who will talk a big game but do nothing to back it up once they’re safely elected.

For right now, we’re doing the right thing. We’re sending a powerful message to Pelosi and her ilk in Congress, and we need to keep it up. We need to do everything we can to make sure we get these scumbags kicked out this November. It’s the first step towards repealing this bill, which, while difficult, is possible.

Let these past two days, and this victory for the RNC won by the outrage of the American people, remind you that all yet is not lost. The American people have not completely lost everything that makes this country great. For anyone who’s spent the last few days being depressed (like me!), don’t be. The fight is not over.
