Every year on Memorial Day, I give a few moments of my time to say the names of some of my brothers and sisters who have passed from this earth – either on the battlefield or elsewhere – and remember their sacrifices. I remember my former company commander who perished in a tragic accident. I remember the Command Sgt. Major who died on my last deployment. I remember the friend with whom I was stationed for several years, who took his own life a few years ago.
There are others. So many others whom I remember and cherish each year!
And then, I watch this short film every year without fail, and I cry.
This beautiful short film needs no script. It needs no words. The soul in this film says it all.
Go and celebrate the summer. Enjoy the warmth of friends and family around you. Those whom we have lost would want you to be happy.
Just make sure you never forget them.

Well said Marta!
Just make sure you never forget them.
I would say that while it’s vital not to forget them, it’s even more important is to not forget WHY.
And yeah, that’s a great short film.
Pardon me while I go take care of these allergy symptoms.
