Today is the five year anniversary of the death of Ronald Reagan, one of the greatest presidents this country has ever seen.
Remember him. Honor his memory.
This is a video tribute to President Reagan. It’s a little long, but it goes quickly. The wisdom in the words spoken still resonate today.
Here is a particularly moving clip from his funeral. I still tear up watching it, and my heart still breaks for Nancy.
Remember President Reagan, and find inspiration and hope in his memory. As Mitch McConnell said when the Reagan statue was unveiled in the Capitol, “in the 1980s, when the world said America was over, America said not quite, and when they said freedom was yesterday, America said I don’t think so.” Ronald Reagan turned this country back around. He reintroduced us to conservatism and hope. He fought for freedom and democracy, and didn’t back down no matter how futile an effort it may have seemed to be. So, when you are remembering him, remember that all is not yet lost. The fight is not over. We are still Americans, and by honoring the memory of a great American like Ronald Reagan, we can stand together and save our country, once again.
Rest in peace, President Reagan.
SicSemperTyrannis says: I only began to appreciate Reagan when Bush 41 flip-flopped on “Read my lips – no new taxes”, and my appeciation grew during 8 years of Clinton.
Just as it took the misery index of the Carter presidency to make the American electorate yearn for principled conservative leadership, I hope the collapse of our economy under Barack Hussein Obama will usher in a new principled conservative president in 2012.
That is the CHANGE that I HOPE for.
Mark says: When Reagan sent those jets to Libya, he showed supporters of terrorism such as Kadaffi that the days of America being treated as a doormat were over. I hope and pray that another Reagan is coming up in the wings to reverse what that asshat Obama is doing now.
Hally says: You watch this and you realize that there are no giants left. Maybe new ones will come along, but he was our last giant, and watching this reminds you how lucky you were if you were alive to see his time in service to us.
