Q&A: When did I become a conservative?

Question(s):

As a follow-up to Lily’s question, after you got interested in politics , when did you realize that you were a conservative? Did it happen gradually or did you “see the light” all at once? Who are your favorite conservative American role models of the past 50 years?

I was not initially a conservative. I always viewed myself as a Republican, but when I was in high school and college, I was more of a moderate. I felt I was a center-right Republican, especially on social issues. There was never an epiphany moment where suddenly I saw the light; I simply grew up, matured, and became more educated on the facts. The more involved I got, the more conservative I became.

Some of my favorite American conservative role models, in no particular order:

  • Ronald Reagan
  • Clare Booth Luce
  • Michelle Malkin
  • Rush Limbaugh
  • Phyllis Schlafly
  • Newt Gingrich
  • Ann Coulter
  • Oliver North
  • Clarence Thomas
  • Antonin Scalia
  • Dr. Laura Schlessinger
  • Laura Ingraham
  • Sean Hannity
