Question:
Long time reader, first time questioner.
What deficiencies do you see with Sarah Palin and (if any) what can she do to correct them?
(I am a big Sarah supporter too, btw.. in the interest of full disclosure)
I’m not going to go into what I disagree with her on politically. While I love Sarah Palin, obviously no one will ever find a candidate that they agree with 100%. I think the closest I ever came was Duncan Hunter.
I think the biggest problem Sarah Palin had was that she let herself be silenced: by the media and by John McCain himself. The best advice I could give Sarah Palin would be to just be herself. For someone like Sarah Palin or Bobby Jindal, that’s all they need to do. It’s a little trite, but it’s true. And as the campaign went on, I think the McCain campaign tried to mold her into something a little bit different than what she actually is. She’s a true conservative, and not only that, but she is a regular American. She was such a breath of fresh air at the RNC, and people reacted wildly because they recognized the sincerity in her words. They could tell she was being genuine. And that’s the biggest thing she needs to do if she wants to be a player on the national scene. Don’t let RINOs like John McCain change you. That’s the best advice I can give to Sarah Palin.
Hunter was my guy until he dropped out, then I voted for Baldwin. That more people did not tells me how far down the list of priorities the upholding of the Constitution now is in even “conservatives” minds. Juan Amnesty Petain McVain certainly is not a conservative.
Palin signed legislation giving homo couples state benefits. That will forever haunt future attempts at the presidency, as will her support of TARP 1.
The problem is all the controversy. Its somebodies´fault. Palin has to stop pointing the finger and clean it up. It may also be HER manner to promote ambiguity…I think it is. It can´t always be someone elses fault, and it´s a constant.
Palin seems to think this is show business and all publicity is good publicity. It´s become too important to her JUST TO KEEP HER NAME out there. The word PALIN has become a joke and a put down, use your search engine and see what the words PALIN LIKE yield. Personally, I think it´s too late. If your name becomes another word for DOLT, I say, move on.
“Palin signed legislation giving homo couples state benefits. That will forever haunt future attempts at the presidency, as will her support of TARP 1.”
Can you imagine the uproar from the heterophopes if she had not done that. Also, most pols favored TARP 1. Perhaps they have learned from their mistakes.

However, you will recall from the vice presidential debates last fall that she opposes gay marriage. Really, I think Palin is about the most conservative candidate that America would be willing to elect these days. She’s a working mother, and apart from all those weird names she gave to her kids, looks like any mom you’d expect to meet at the grocery store or soccer field, litter in tow.
Hunter? Come on. Great guy, great ideas, but the blue states would never be swayed into voting for him. The fact that he even got elected to the House, coming from California as he does, is testimony as to just how “red” the CA heartland is (once you get away from LA and San Francisco). He wouldn’t have a shot at the Senate, much less the Presidency. And I say this as someone who loves the guy AND is from California.
