In a small Michigan town, residents found out that Gotion Inc., a company connected to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), planned to build a massive battery plant (for electric cars) in their community. Concerned about the potential influence of the CCP and the impact on local life, the people of the town didn’t sit back and wait. They took action.
Through protests, town meetings, and a united push to make their voices heard, the community made it clear they wouldn’t stand by while foreign interests took control. Their efforts gained enough attention that Gotion Inc. decided to pause its permit application for the plant.
“I applaud the people of Mecosta County as Gotion pauses their permitting process, but their fight is not over,” Republican Michigan Rep. John Moolenaar, chair of the House Select Committee on the CCP, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Gotion must announce it will finally listen to the people, and end its projects for good.”
“Over the last two years the residents of Green Charter Township, a small town of just 3,200 people, came together to defend American interests and stop Gotion from bullying its way into their community,” Moolenaar said. “The opposition to the CCP-affiliated company attended board meetings to voice their concerns and rallied their neighbors in true grassroots efforts against Gotion.” – The Daily Caller
This is a prime example of how grassroots activism can protect local communities from outside forces. When citizens come together and demand accountability, they can stop projects that threaten their way of life—even when those projects come with deep-pocketed backers.
I’m not usually one to jump on the conspiracy train (okay, maybe a little), but hear me out for a second. Elon Musk makes electric cars. Tesla’s got a huge operation in China, with its Gigafactory in Shanghai pumping out electric vehicles for China and the rest of the world. Now, China is buying up land in Michigan to build factories. Coincidence? Probably, but I couldn’t help but think of the two together when reading this story. More likely, China’s just looking for a foothold here in America, on our soil. If they can’t invade with military force, they’ll do it with technology.
Thankfully, the 3,200 residents of Green Charter Township in Michigan weren’t having it. They organized and took action to put a stop to it.
In 2023, the people of the small town in Michigan took matters into their own hands and ousted their entire local government. Holy cow!
This is the kind of story that makes my heart sing.
Residents of Green Charter Township, Michigan, gave their entire local government the boot after the town board approved a CCP-affiliated electric battery plant.

And then, fast forward to 2025 –
In one of their first official acts of 2025, Mecosta County commissioners rescinded support for the CCP Gotion battery plant in Green Charter Township.

Is this happening in other parts of America too? Of course it’s happening but are communities fighting back?
Chinese companies are quietly buying up U.S. property for all sorts of reasons. If you ask me, none of these moves are innocent—it’s China, after all. They’re buying up real estate in major cities, setting up tech hubs in places like Silicon Valley, and quietly controlling farmland to secure U.S. resources. And let’s not ignore the land they’re purchasing near military bases, which raises huge national security red flags.
They’re also expanding their influence by building factories, warehouses, and cultural centers, all while eyeing rural land for vital resources like water and minerals. It’s all part of a bigger strategy to gain economic control and leverage, and it’s time we start paying attention to China’s growing presence on American soil.
We could all learn a thing or two from the citizens of Green Charter Township who fiercely defend their freedom. And thankfully, we don’t have a Vice President who would be all in on this Chinese land grab business.
Nine months ago, Sky News Australia did a segment on China buying up land near key U.S. military bases. And somehow, Dr. Phil got pulled into the mix—how he ended up involved is beyond me, but credit to him for jumping in!
Seriously, we need to put an end to this. Why isn’t this story front and center every day? Who’s keeping it quiet, I wonder? There are plenty of questions, but no clear answers—except, apparently, from your local government. It’s time to get to know your neighbors and take action, just like the patriots in Michigan did. We can’t afford to sit back and let this slide.
You should really go read the full article from The Daily Caller. It’s quite eye-opening and inspiring.

Maybe Gotion, Inc. should look for a spot in Minnesota. Rumor has it that a certain high official there so likes China and the way its ruled that he got married there. Surely after the Summer of Love and the Mostly Peaceful Protests there’s some vacant land available.
How many US citizens own property in China(Hong Kong excluded)……….?…. For that matter, does anyone else in the free world own any?……….
