I bet all these kiddos came up with this concept all by themselves. Yep, just like the singing. And the dancing. And now, they march.
On Sunday, October 12, Washington State kids and families will parade around Seattle’s Green Lake. “Kids for Obama Parade” will illustrate one of Barack Obama’s core beliefs: Everyone’s voice counts. Join us as Obama’s youngest supporters rally their families and call for change, for a better America. At 2 pm, rain or shine, children and teens will express with words and drawings their hopes for the future of America on “wish flags” that will be mailed to Obama. The first 300 kids will be given a helium balloon, an expression of solidarity. At 3 pm, the “Kids for Obama Parade” will skip, toddle, stroller, rollerblade, pedal, and red-wagon clockwise around Green Lake in a cloud of red, white, and blue balloons and a garland of kid-made wish flags. How to prepare? If possible, bring home-made signs and wear red, white, and/or blue clothing. That goes for moms, dads, big brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents too. Please spread the word.
I don’t think many three-year-olds are visiting Barack Obama’s website. I also doubt many eight-year-olds are going to their parents to suggest this idea to them.
Do none of these children’s parents see this as even the slightest bit reminiscent of Hitler Youth? Or, perhaps, the brainwashing of children that Mao liked so much? I guess it just goes hand in hand with people that are such strong advocates of big government. Screw making up your own mind — the Obamamessiah will make it up for you!
What’s really scary is that apparently, none of the people who will force their children to take part in this march understand why this is scary.

steve b says: Scary indeed. Whats worse is I have a number of center left friends who think I am the kind that wants to brainwash kids. Why you ask? Because I want to marry someone who shares my belief system so we can raise our kids w/o having to competing belief systems in the house, i.e. one liberal one conservative. Told one of my buddies this and was accused of wanting to brainwash my future kids and not giving them a choice. I was at a loss for words, if I would have had a bat I would have beat the guy down. Kidding about beat down.

When I was posted at various units at NAS Whidbey Island over the bulk of my Naval Career, we always got a charge out of the stupid that came out of the Jet City. Mind you, none of the high ranking elected officials in Western WA cared for us much. In a Navy town such as Oak Harbor back then, this would have gotten little press. The paper is a once a week publication. It may have stirred the ire of Old Retired types, particularly the biker guys. So, the moms and dads may have gotten a severe beatdown.
No Naval Air Station? Oak Harbor is a wide spot on SR 20.
oliverl says: So if I follow your reason, children should never go to church, synagogue, etc. That would be “…the brainwashing of children…” I went to this rally with my children. It was not brainwashing. They did not carry signs, wear buttons, etc if they did not want to. The desire to raise children with our values is our right in this country, isn’t it?
I don’t think you have a clear idea of who the Nazis were. Millions of people died in their orgy of hate and violence. No one who supports Obama wants that. We are just trying to make this country a better place to live, and we believe Obama is the change we need.

oliver should remember one thing: When hitler was a raising star Germans was not nazis – they become nazis whit hitler. One journalist from my country saw him as the crazy man he was and went to Germany to see him on one of his many speaks on football stadiums and during his speak she saluted him whit her arm and shouted Sig hail. She said she become hypnotized of him. When she came back home she tried to speak to the guvernment but they would not listen to her. The rest is historie.
