2,996 bloggers are needed to pay tribute to the victims of September 11. On 9-11-01, angry Jihadist Muslims hijacked four planes and caused the deaths of 2,996 innocent people. Project 2,996 has been there to pay tribute to these Americans for three years.
Project 2,996 is a tribute to the victims of 9/11.
On September 11, 2006, more than 3,000 bloggers joined together to remember the victims of 9/11.
Each year we will honor them by remembering their lives, and not by remembering their murderers.
Katie Favazza is helping to organize this year’s effort. I’ve already signed up — will you? So far, there are only 42 participants. 42. Please sign up, even if you don’t have a blog. For those who don’t have blogs, you can e-mail me and I’ll post your tributes here. To sign up, simply go here and leave a comment with your name, e-mail address, and blog address. If you don’t have a blog and would still like to participate, just leave my blog address and mention in the comments that it will be posted here.
The innocent Americans who lost their lives deserve to be remembered. Please help us get closer to the monumental number we need to remember each victim.
Thanks for posting about this, girl! I wish I could take credit for “organizing” the project, but I’m just participating in it and promoting it because it’s a worthy cause. Thanks again for encouraging your readers to participate!
“Each year we will honor them by remembering their lives, and not by remembering their murderers.”
So, what the website is saying is that we’re going to forget who did this act? No offense, but that’s about as ridiculous as building a Pearl Harbor memorial page and not mentioning the Japanese hitting our ships. And then people wonder why we have no focus in this war…
It’s good that we remember the victims, but never forget who did this.
Cassy, I’ve signed up – thanks for passing the information along.
Mat, I don’t think this project is advocating forgetting who perpetrated the attack. Rather, its focus is on honor the lives of those who were just doing their best, being hard-working Americans who showed up for work on time, and were rewarded by a molten metal fireball or an 88-story jump to their deaths. That is the original intent of Patriot Day.
Daniel,
The statement mentioned by the website is ambiguous at best. We want to remember the victims, which is fine, but for some odd reason we want to ignore why they died. BTW, this is very similar to the statements made by the media and government after the attacks: “this is an awful tragedy, but don’t get angry about it.” Say what??? It’s just more PC nonsense.
