Governor Kristi Noem is forbidden to enter the land of six tribes in South Dakota. These six tribes, apparently, make up 20% of the state. Noem has been outspoken regarding tribes in the state. Saying South Dakota tribes benefit from cartels is something that will get you banned from entering their land.
As if killing puppies and doing Corey Lewandowski wasn’t bad enough, it appears Noem has some serious problems in South Dakota with the tribes.
And I hate to harp on our own people here, but Kristi, this is a tough one to come back from. And then she has a word or two for Stuart Varney when he dogs her on the issue.

While the puppy killer label and rumors of the Lewandowski affair are great fodder for media clips, Noem definitely has a bigger problem.
And there are a whole lot of other people who are mocking Noem’s ban from tribal land.
In March 2024, Noem sent a letter to Merrick Garland requesting audits of federal funding for the tribes. While the tribes were already performing yearly audits, as required by law, the audits became more complex in 2020, with backlogs created due to the COVID-19 shutdowns. So say they, whoever they are.
Here are the tribes that have banned Noem from traveling into and through the land.
The Yankton Sioux Tribe voted Friday to ban Noem from their land in southeastern South Dakota just a few days after the Sisseton-Wahpeton Ovate tribe took the same action. The Oglala, Rosebud, Cheyenne River and Standing Rock Sioux tribes had already taken action to keep her off their reservations. Three other tribes haven’t yet banned her. – AP via MSN
Kristi Noem says she doesn’t believe it is the people in the tribes who don’t want her there. She claims it is the tribal governments and leaders.
It’s sort of a confusing story when you get into it. Noem claims that the people of the tribes need protection and help, but at the same time, she wants them audited for their federal funds. And it appears the tribes want to be left alone.
In February of this year (2024), Noem urged the U.S. Senate to improve the public safety of Tribal Reservations.
“I write to you to urge the Committee to take appropriate action to help tribal communities across the country address the breakdown of the rule of law that is occurring in their lands,” wrote Governor Noem in the letter. “The Committee must also urge the Biden Administration to stop shirking its treaty obligations and take necessary actions to keep these people safe.”
In the letter, Governor Noem pointed to emergency declarations that several of South Dakota’s Native American tribes have issued for the breakdown of law and order, drug addiction, and other related challenges.
Governor Noem also highlighted testimony from Oglala Sioux Tribe President Frank Star Comes Out to the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, including:
“The State of South Dakota lacks criminal jurisdiction over Indian Country crimes; thus, in reality, the sole provider of law enforcement services to the Oglala Sioux Tribe is the federal government. We believe this federal neglect has resulted in the cartel moving on to our reservation, an increase in overdoses, and a proliferation of guns on our school properties.”
And there you have it, drug cartels and the federal government.
This statement has Noem in trouble with the tribes in South Dakota. But who said it first? Kristi Noem or the Oglala Sioux Tribe President Frank Star Comes Out?
This “fact check” is wrong re: cartel activity in South Dakota (the rest of it is dubious as well).
The AG’s office in the past has confirmed cartels are active in SD (KELO says they haven’t) and if you didn’t believe them, you could just google it. https://t.co/7WTsHmpADi https://t.co/o4y2M3mrEy

The South Dakota tribes banning Kristi Noem from entering their land is quite telling. But what is it telling, exactly? And will we ever find out? Probably not. The people crave an MTV reality-like sensational headline instead.

Hmm. Couple of points.
I know that the SEC did have a process to extend the deadline for the companies that they regulate to file their audited financial statements during the pandemic, due to the fact that CPA firms were just as impacted by the (idiotic) shutdowns as any other organizations. How many corporations took advantage of that, I do not know – but at least two small broker / dealers where I still have contacts did do so.
The Reservations were seriously impacted in the scamdemic – casinos and resorts, a major source of their outside income, were shut down. Also (though again I don’t have numbers), their populations were more impacted by illness than the general population – much larger percentage of comorbidities like obesity, diabetes, COPD, etc. among them.
Now, I’m not sure that the “ban” would survive any legal challenge – if nothing else, there are several highways that cross Reservation land, including Interstate 90.
I do agree, though – Noem really, really needs to stop insulting groups that could swing towards Republicans due to abuses by the Biden Junta. It’s not only Donald Trump that could use a “minder.”
Like all of us, Kristi pulls some stupid moves now and then. Nevertheless, I support her…hope Trump selects her as his VP candidate.
