What happened to the 500,000 women who marched in D.C. for Trump’s first inauguration? Will they be showing up this weekend? Spoiler: no. A few might make an appearance, but was it ever really a movement to begin with? From pink hats to fizzled-out fury, they’ve rebranded from the Women’s March to the People’s March. At this point, it’ll barely be a blip on the radar.

From Pink Hats to Fizzled-Out Fury

Today, we’re talking about the protests, or lack thereof, happening in Washington, D.C., for the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States – Donald J. Trump. The event has been moved inside due to frigid weather and perhaps for some safety issues, but it certainly isn’t for any so-called protests.

Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration was an outside event despite the many disgruntled and misguided women who seemed utterly devastated that anyone could have voted for him.

As protesters gather in Washington DC on Saturday for this year’s Women’s March, Vanessa Wruble, one of its founders, will be 2,500 miles away, at her farm in the Californian desert.

“I didn’t even know it was still a thing,” she told the BBC from her five-acre animal sanctuary near Joshua Tree, which features a zebra, mini cows and horses, peacocks and chickens.

Eight years ago, on the eve of the first Women’s March, Wruble had been consumed by it. In the aftermath of Donald Trump’s surprise 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton, Wruble, along with a handful of other female activists, scrambled to pull together a mass protest against the newly elected president.

“We basically did not stop, we did not sleep,” Wruble said. “It felt like we were doing something important.” – BBC

WOW, that is telling. Sounds like Vanessa Wruble decided to get a life. She left the Women’s March due to antisemitism in the group but has been active, at least in 2021, with another organization called March On. So, while she seems content taking care of animals (good for her), that doesn’t mean she’s completely removed from other protest-related events.

Apparently, once upon a time, the raging nags in this movement were integral to flipping the lower house of Congress from a Republican majority to a Democratic one. The BBC article also credits them with a broader push for women to enter politics. At least, that’s what it implies.

The ReBrand

But now? Where’d all the pink p****-hat-wearing progressive puppets go? The Women’s March is rebranding as the People’s March, and instead of 500,000 showing up, the group is hoping for 50,000 to trickle into Washington, D.C. But it is more than likely only 25,000 will show up.

Huh. It’s funny how that works.

Why did the Women’s March rebrand as the People’s March? It’s not about inclusivity; it’s about numbers. First, they’re just too tired, y’all. And second, they need more people after a sharp drop in interest.

The group is also grappling with how any woman could vote for Trump, let alone 46% of us. In some demographics, the female vote for Trump even increased in 2024. So, really, their so-called woman’s march is deleted. There is no more support for their kind of misguided sisterhood. AOC is going to have to cry harder.

Flawed Feminism

This happens when you start dividing people into identity groups—eventually, those groups start fighting among themselves. But maybe Mike LaChance (see his post above) has a point. We’ve seen the left attempt to erase women by letting men pretend to be women, not just invading our spaces but dominating our sports and taking away awards and scholarships. And don’t even get me started on the whole men-in-women’s-prisons situation. There is your real fight, ladies.

One can only hope that the decline of this brand of outrage feminism is because it was never genuine to begin with. Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but could it be that some women are finally waking up to the fact that Donald Trump isn’t the monster their mothers have been painting him to be?

I mean, E. Jean Carroll probably ruined it for the angry aunties with her utterly ridiculous antics. Between her over-the-top behavior and baseless accusations, it’s no wonder the credibility of this whole movement has taken such a nosedive.

Join me in raising a glass to toast our incoming 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. It’s going to be a glorious four years.
