Friday Fiction: 100 Word Challenge

I’ll start with a story …

She took a stool at the end of the bar, looking at her phone as he approached. “Vodka martini, lemon twist.”

“Not a cosmo, sugar rim?”

She looked up, eyes flashing and then resolving into recognition. “Hi, Steve.”

Memory staggered him. Two ambitious youths with dreams too big to remain together. He turned to fixing her drink to regain his composure.

She accepted it, meeting his eyes. “Ever get that recording contract?”

He shook his head, “Did you hit it big in the fashion biz?”

“No.” She touched his arm, slipped off the stool and walked out.

He didn’t follow.
