I have a lot more empathy for the aging process than I did five years ago. Watching my own parents mentally decline was terrible to watch. My father was the smartest man in any room for most of my life. In his late seventies, we started to see signs that he was cognitively impaired. For many years, it didn’t matter. Until he backed the car into a storefront and took down the whole plate glass window. Thank God no one was inside. But the battle to take the car keys away was epic. Old people, especially those who were mentally acute, have a tough time accepting they aren’t with it. So, I am vaguely sympathetic to Dianne Feinstein’s attempt to defend herself as those around her question her ability to serve in the Senate. However, the reality is that Feinstein is just the LATEST Democrat too old to serve and the country is suffering for their refusal to step down from leadership.
The San Francisco Chronicle was the first to report on the concerns of four senators and one Democrat House member, but according to the Los Angeles Times, Feinstein is pushing back:
“After the Chronicle posted the story, Feinstein, 88, said in a statement that “the real question is whether I’m still an effective representative for 40 million Californians, and the record shows that I am.”
But of course she would say that! Who wants to admit they are older than dirt and what that means for their future? She is literally the oldest sitting senator at 88 years old. And it is completely unsurprising that Nancy Pelosi is defending Feinstein, given that Pelosi herself is 82! The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
“Senator Feinstein is a workhorse for the people of California and a respected leader among her colleagues in the Senate,” Pelosi said. “She is constantly traveling between California and the Capitol, working relentlessly to ensure Californians’ needs are met and voices are heard.”
Pelosi said it was “unconscionable that, just weeks after losing her beloved husband of more than four decades and after decades of outstanding leadership to our City and State, she is being subjected to these ridiculous attacks that are beneath the dignity in which she has led and the esteem in which she is held.”
I find that especially rich, coming from Nancy Pelosi, given her pushing a bill in 2020 to determine a President’s fitness for office! Has she paid any attention to her own Commander in Chief lately? Biden attempted to shake hands with Harvey the Rabbit yesterday! Watch:
So, here we have a democrat President who is on the world stage every single day reminding out enemies that he is an incompetent fool. We have Dianne Feinstein whose own freaking party thinks she is losing her marbles:
“Four U.S. senators, including three Democrats, as well as three former Feinstein staffers and the California Democratic member of Congress told The Chronicle in recent interviews that her memory is rapidly deteriorating. They said it appears she can no longer fulfill her job duties without her staff doing much of the work required to represent the nearly 40 million people of California.”
"Feinstein's decline is an open secret on the Hill and anyone claiming otherwise" — Pelosi, Padilla, in this article — "is a liar," a senior Democratic staffer adds to me https://t.co/3HdWRgNf4H

But as I stated earlier, Feinstein is just the latest reminder that the Democrat leadership has an aging problem. This isn’t new news. CNN was reporting on this in 2017 and no one has gotten any younger! Even then, Feinstein’s age was at issue:
“Democratic leaders across both the legislative and executive branches are generally older than leadership on the other side of the aisle, leading to some restlessness among the lower ranks who have been patiently awaiting their turn at the top.
The most recent blow to those hoping to climb the ranks? Dianne Feinstein, 84, the oldest senator currently serving in the chamber, just announced a bid for re-election to the seat she’s held for two and a half decades.”
When you look at the age gap in leadership positions, the Democrat’s age is overwhelming. Take a look at this graph from Quorum:
Look, I am not saying we don’t have some in the GOP who should be led out to pasture. In the Senate, three of the five oldest members are Republicans:
But let’s remember, BEFORE Feinstein was considered “too old to serve” she managed to miss that her own chauffer was a Chinese spy! I think it’s kinda time her party did the kind thing and put her in a home. Just like my family did with my dad.

My sympathy is kind of limited with her and any politician. People still keep voting for them and they don’t have the dignity to step down.
