Dylan Mulvaney: Bud Light Didn’t Stand By Their Man!

Dylan Mulvaney has a bone to pick with Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch. You see, they should’ve stood by their man. They didn’t and now Dylan is finally going public with his displeasure.

Dylan Mulvaney recently called out Bud Light, for not supporting her, after enlisting the influencer for a sponsored post that invoked an ongoing flow of extreme backlash.

The celebrity influencer posted an Instagram video speaking out against the backlash she had been receiving since her April partnership with the beer company. She noted that since the initial Instagram-sponsored post, she still has yet to receive support from Bud Light.

Dylan, who is now blonde, isn’t happy that Bud Light abandoned him during after the campaign backfired so badly. Then again, Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch ran for cover as soon as it became apparent that their ad campaign pissed off 95% of their customer base!

The company continues to dig holes, LOTS of them, by refusing to admit that their ad campaign was the worst idea ever. In fact, earlier this week Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth (who issued the blandest statement ever 10 days after the debacle started) is now making the rounds discussing the upcoming “listening” tour.

Notice what is missing there? Any admission that ‘Hey! We really stepped in it. We are SORRY and we’ll do our best to regain the trust and buy-in of our customers.’  Nope. Instead the company is willfully/purposefully digging deeper holes for themselves while sales crater even further.

In the week ending June 17, sales of the Anheuser-Busch brand fell by an eye-popping 28.5% versus a year ago, according to the most recent sales figures issued by Bump Williams Consulting and NielsenIQ.

That eclipses last week’s 26.8% decline, which beat the previous week’s fall of 24.4%.

That’s… really NOT GOOD.

On a side note, hubs and I were traveling overseas this month. Bud Light and AB brands such as Stella were seldom ordered. Not only that, but we had a significant microbrewer in once country discuss with us how they and other brewers are learning how NOT to run ad campaigns using the Bud Light debacle as Exhibit A.!

Meanwhile, back to Dylan. He’s wondering why Bud Light dropped him like a hot potato. I mean seriously, no one should be insulted by the trans-gender population...right?

“For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse in my opinion than not hiring a trans person at all because it gives customers permission to be as transphobic and hateful as they want,” Mulvaney said. “And the hate doesn’t end with me, it has serious and grave consequences for the rest of our community.”

Those who’ve been lobbing threats and worse should be castigated and held to account. Period.

Yet what Dylan fails to or refuses to recognize is that this ad campaign was one that ignored the full customer base that company has had for decades. What Dylan also refuses to recognize during his whine fest is that, by their silence, the company is tacitly admitting that they stepped in it big time and thus abandoned all the ships.

As for Dylan and his precious Bud Light can, what are his plans now?

The influencer admitted to hiding the can – which sparked Kid Rock to shoot at several cases of the beer – and is no longer able find it.

Mulvaney said: ‘I realized that I needed to protect this can so I hid it somewhere and I can’t find it because I hid it so well.

‘But when I do find it, I feel like it needs to go in a museum, preferably behind bullet-proof glass.

Alrighty then! Dylan Mulvaney wants recognition for his PR efforts. It won’t ever happen. That’s evident to everyone who has been reading the room for the last three months. That company won’t ever go back to that particular genie. Instead they are trying new spins on advertising that hopefully will reconnect their customer base… maybe.

Well, I don’t know if I’d describe that as epic, but your opinion may vary. Meanwhile, another ad of theirs debuted also. The Bud Light Knight reboot…REALLY GUYS??!!

Quite honestly, as much as Dylan Mulvaney was the wrong choice, he’s not wrong in pointing out that Bud Light along with Anheuser-Busch dropped him like a hot coal as soon as it was apparent they’d screwed the pooch.

What is also evident by this week’s media campaign from AB and CEO Brendan Whitworth is that they hope that by virtue signaling and trying to BUY customers back, all will be forgiven and sales will jump up and all will be totally fine. It will be VERY interesting to see the sales stats after the 4th of July.

Speaking of screwing the Anheuser-Busch pooch is there news of Alissa Heinerscheid? Is she on permanent ‘leave’ or has she been sent to Antarctica to sell krill to penguins?

I have a script for a Bud Light ad drawn up and ready to go. It pokes fun at the ‘fratty’ image that the beer has and still sells the product.

All I ask is 2 million and creative control over the characters. I’ll turn over control for another 5.
