An F15-E military jet has been downed in Iran with search and rescue mission one for our troops. Pray for the safety of all.
War is a fecking dangerous business. Even when EVERYTHING goes right, things go badly and personnel are injured and die. When you think about how fragile fighter jets are, it’s amazing they fly at all. We were not shocked to find out that a U.S. military F15-E jet went down in Iran. CNN first reported this information a dozen hours ago, but 90% of what they report is shite. We are going with a report from CNBC:
The U.S. was searching for the crew of an American fighter jet Friday after it was downed in Iran, a U.S. official told MS NOW.
It isn’t clear if the plane was shot down or went down for another reason, MS NOW said. The jet was an F-15, which has two crew members, and the whereabouts of the servicemembers was unknown, according to MS NOW.
The Pentagon and U.S. Central Command didn’t immediately comment.
The New York Times said Iran shot down the fighter jet, citing U.S. and Israeli officials and Iranian state media, though MS NOW said it hadn’t independently verified the reporting.
It appeared to be the first known loss of a U.S. jet in the country since the war in Iran started in late February.
The downing of the jet comes at a delicate time, when the U.S. has showed few signs of slowing its assault on Iran and reports of potential peace talks did not yield a breakthrough. The death toll from the conflict is nearing 5,100 across the Middle East, according to MS NOW.
No matter what you think about the propriety of “Operation Epic Fury”, keep your piehole closed and just focus prayers on our troops this Good Friday.
The F15-E has a two-person crew: A pilot and a weapons systems officer:
Reports of F15 shot down with search and rescue efforts underway. We lost 63 aircraft in the Gulf War. Dozens in the first few weeks. This would be the 5th downed aircraft, and only one by enemy fire in Operation Epic Fury. Pray for the pilot and weapons officers that they are…

We do not know, with confirmation, if the plane had mechanical issues or was shot down. Search and rescue began for the crew immediately. Here are two helicopters simultaneously refueling to continue the search:
United States helicopters were spotted refueling midair during a high-stakes mission.

Our military personnel truly are our blood and treasure.
From Defense News, one of the two crew members has been rescued:
A United States F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet has been shot down by enemy fire over Iran, U.S. officials confirmed.
One of the aircraft’s two crew members has been rescued, Israeli media first reported. U.S. officials confirmed the reports in statements to CBS News and Axios.
A search for the second crew member is ongoing.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Military Times “the president has been briefed” on the downed fighter jet.
The Pentagon and U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Officials in Iran, meanwhile, called for the search and capture of any surviving crew members of the jet, according to reports by the semi-official ISNA news agency and the Young Journalists Club.
The governor of one of the Islamic Republic’s provinces stated that anyone who captures or kills the crew would receive a special commendation.
Here is the video with the news reader announcing the reward:

We own the night. As night falls, the search and rescue crews will step up the tempo in the work of finding the missing crew member. The explosion out of the cockpit of the jet is very violent so the member may be unconscious or otherwise wounded.
President Trump is frustrated according to The Mirror:
Donald Trump has broken his silence after a US fighter jet was shot down in Iran.
The US president was asked by NBC News whether the downing of the F-15E Strike Eagle affects talks with Iran. He said: “No, not at all. No, it’s war. We’re in war.”
Trump declined to comment on the ongoing search and rescue mission for the missing crew member and expressed frustration over some media coverage of the operation given its sensitivity, NBC News reported.
An A-10 beloved of troops and their Mothers also crashed:
The A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft, known as the Warthog, went down near the Strait of Hormuz around the same time as an F-15 was shot down over Iran, two officials told The New York Times. The pilot of the single-seat aircraft was rescued by US forces. The officials did not provide further details on the circumstances of the incident.
We will update this post as more information becomes available.
