i haven’t wanted to write much on him and his whole sordid affair just because i find his behavior so incredibly disgusting and tabloid. it’s one thing to cop to lies told about ‘his disappearance’ on father’s day weekend from the state so he could have an illicite romp with his mistress. its entirely different to blubber on and on about this ‘affair of the heart with his soul mate’ to any reporter who will listen, while his wife and 4 boys are trying to make sense of how upside down their lives have become.
there is no nobleness or dignity in shouting about your forbidden love from the rooftops like a post-pubesic lovesick teenager when your wife of 20 years and your 4 boys are the proverbial broken-hearted elephant in the room. what mark sanford is doing is nauseatingly self-indulgent and represents a painful, most obscene kind of selfishness toward those you say you love.
the relationship between a father and son is sacred, and much about how a boy transitions into a man is dictated by the experiences he shares with his daddy. there is a level of faithful trust in such a relationship that molds a wee boy’s character, and teaches him how to grow up to be a decent, hard-working human being in the process of providing him with all the personal tools he’ll need to be successful in his life. watching his parents interact in marriage gives the son a living example of how to treat women in general and his future wife in particular.
i look at these boys faces and see how fun they look – impish, innocent. i hope that they can still grow to be accountable, stand-up men despite their father’s careless and reckless actions, and use this experience as an example of overcoming the transgressions of a lesser man.
mark sanford is no romantic hero like some in the media are trying to say. this story isn’t a movie. real life has real people with responsibilities, and i think it is a poor reflection of what we’ve become as a society when actions like this get overly romanticized for the sake of crafting some make-shift love story. bah!
maybe mark sanford IS in love with this argentina woman. fine. but he has responsibilites and commitments in his home that need to be sorted out – especially with those boys – then he can move to argentina forever. dltdhyotwo.

Everyone I know has issues with his/her parents. It’s part of life, yes? Any lifelong relationship is bound to include the entire gamut of emotions: love, certainly…but also hate, envy, jealousy, bitterness.
The sad part is that these boys have the added burden of having it all played out on the public airwaves.

Evidence we liberals are far less hypocritical then you sexually repressed conservatives. The bad part of this story is the kids. They suffer. However, mama Sanford is obviously out of touch with her husband and has been for a long time. Spitting out babies doesn’t create intimacy nor marital stability necessarily.

As I recall he commented that Livingston had “broken God’s laws” and should resign . He said similar things about Clinton. Why is it that Sanford thinks he should be allowed to stay in office? He seems remarkably self-centered, if not narcissistic. All that matters is “me” – to hell with his (former) leadership role on the Party; to hell with his wife and children. Since the act he commited was in violation to his vows to his wife, before the kids were ever born shouldnt you be saying that he should maybe pay more alimony to her for the betrayal and sufering hes put her through ? True, the kids are effected and hurt by this also but his actions go more directly to his wife as he took what was supposed to be a sacred intimacy between the two of them and shared it with someone else. Its not like he went and played daddy with another family of kids, right ?
After the kids become adults and are on their own shouldnt it be her thats well maintained by him for the rest of her life ?

On a previous post I explained that because of my position my perspective has changed on things and that of all our differences I really only want peace and happiness for all of you. None of all this bulsh*t is really important in the grand scheme of things and I’ve got better things to do than argue with some delusional woman who finds it amusing to mock people with cancer and make up lies about them all based on her owned warped sense of morality.
You’re whats called “entrenched” “hopeless” I’ve decided to make better use of my blogging by engaging with those that at least would likie to discuss isues in hopes of finding truths that can better our country.
In your case this is not nor will it ever be possible.
In my business we have clients that have passed the point of no return to the point where no amount of inspiration, faith, or logic can help them. They are chronically ill, so brain damaged to the point that they cant relate to just how sick they are.
But we still try by letting them know that theres always someone there should they ever have that moment of clarity.

I am the one who the story was for and I was not “raped”, if you knew the millions of conversations (that did not include you) that were had on ANOTHER blog (that you were not on) then you may (but I doubt it) be able to tell the story was not a “bad” or “twisted” tale.
