While Obama and the Dems are cheering a major victory for reaching their goal of 7 million Obamacare signups, the real numbers are starting to trickle in. Of course we were skeptical all along about these numbers as on March 11th, they were just barely at 4.2 million and fell far short of their goal. It was also revealed at that time that a troubling survey found that approximately only 3.3 million of those enrolled had actually paid for their premiums. This report also claimed that only 27% of those enrolled were previously uninsured. But somehow, miraculously, Obamacare reached the 7 million mark by the deadline of March 31st. Or so they say …
One of the top insurers in Obamacare exchanges says different. According to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, who just happens to offer exchanges in almost every state, approximately 15-20% of those who signed up have not yet paid for their premiums. Now that is a question that WE have continuously asked. We know how many they claim have signed up, but how do you claim those who haven’t paid? In fact when Jay Carney announced on April 1st that they had reached and exceeded their goal, he was asked specifically how many of those enrolled had paid for their premiums. He managed to dodge the question making the claim that more information will be made at a later date. Now the MSM isn’t questioning those numbers as they are thrilled to death at Obamacare’s success. But if the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s numbers are correct, then the total number of Obamacare signups would sit right around the 5.7 million mark, which of course is far below their anticipated goal. I don’t know about you, but I see more than a smidgen of corruption in the Obamacare numbers.
Although Blue Cross Blue Shields isn’t the only insurer participating in the exchanges, they are the biggest participant. This will give you a pretty good indication of what other participants are facing when it comes to those that signed up and those that have actually paid. As Charles Krauthammer said recently:
“Look, at every level, every number that you get on this is either inflated or deceptive. As we just heard from Steve [Hayes], the number of enrollees are not enrollees. It’s people who put stuff in their shopping cart. Amazon would never call it a sale until you get a sale.”
So for now, Obama and the Left can continue their celebration. But I’m guessing that just like the job numbers, the Obamacare numbers will fall far short of the 7 million that they put out in order to control the message that somehow this monster is a success. However, we won’t really know until we get real numbers.
Another question is: how many who signed up had their previous health care insurance cancelled by Obamacare and were forced onto the exchanges? In other words, what percent of the “7.1 million” (a dubious figure at best) are people who were previously unable to get coverage? The justification Democrats and the media provide for blowing up the US health care system was so that the 40 million or so who had no insurance could get it.
The current crowing from the Democrat-media axis is like someone who burned down a family’s farm (destroying their livelihood and food supply), gave the family meager food rations to survive, and then bragged how wonderful and compassionate they are for feeding the family they harmed. “Evil” is not too strong a word to describe such actions.
RL, that is one of the best analogies I have seen for how this Administration has bragged about its accomplishments when it was they who created the mess from which we need to recover! I’m gonna use your analogy in the future.
RL,
I agree, excellent analogy. I will give you props every time I use it!
