President Bush met with the press this morning, and gave us this little gem:
This sums up, in a nutshell, the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans usually believe that Americans are smart enough to run their own lives; Democrats don’t. Republicans usually think that Americans deserve to keep their own money; Democrats don’t. Republicans usually think that Americans will lead their lives perfectly fine without government intervention; Democrats don’t.
Liberals just can’t seem to grasp the fact that people don’t need their all-knowing wisdom-filled genius to live happy and full lives. When President Bush said that it was presumptuous to tell Americans how to live their own lives, I wanted to cheer. It’s something that liberals aren’t able to understand. They think that the American people are idiots who can’t be trusted to be intelligent enough to figure things out on their own, and therefore need liberals to come in and do everything for them.
But hey, it would be nice to not have to worry about balancing my checkbook anymore. I guess I should vote for the Obamamessiah and his hope-changeyness! HOPECHANGE!
Hat Tip: Hot Air
I’m gonna’ miss that man when he leaves Office. Unlike many “true Conservatives,” even though I might disagree with a few of his polices, I think he is a great man and a good President.
Same here. If it were legal for him to run for a 3rd term, I’d vote for him.
I wish that this Bush would have stood up to the Dems over the past 2 years, I hope we see more of this until January 20th. Thank you Mr. Bush.
One would hope John McCain was watching and taking notes.
I’d love it if he spent the rest of his presidency making up for lost time. What the hell, it ain’t like he can lose an election over it…… For that matter, it would be nice if McCain would follow GW’s lead and stand up for something.
I’m going to miss him too. Quite a courageous man there
My disagreements with him have to do with when he values across-the-board agreement above his vision. And I usually just speak for myself in such matters; here, I’m thinking, not so much. When he talks like this, that’s when his approval rating kicks up a point or two.
What a great man! He said it like it is, didn’t he? It’s nice to see the Commander in Chief of the united free world putting down nanny-statism in no uncertain terms. Thank you, Mr. President.
Bush is certainly not perfect, and he’s no Ronald Reagan. He has abandoned some of conservatism’s true values, but he his so much better than the alternatives that the Dems gave us: Gore or Kerry.
But your assessment about the difference between Dems and Republicans is right on.
“Republicans usually think that Americans will lead their lives perfectly fine without government intervention”. Really, then why do the republicans care about gay marriage and abortion at all? Why do they force a lack of full education about birth/disease control options?
Republicans speak of being anti-women’s choice/anti-abortion and being anti-civil rights. Why do republicans seem happy to attempt to run the most private part of Americans lives? I do wonder as the republicans held the house and senate for 6 years why is apportion still legal? Really WHY is it still legal?
Diet, Republicans could care less about what a person or demographic does in their own home. It is the libernazis that bring a public light onto what should be taken care of in the home. Republicans are merely enforcing laws of morality that a civilized should adhere to. No murder, and keeping the definition of marriage intact. Whether libtards want to admit it or not, our jurisprudence is still and always has been based on Judeo-Christian thought and law.
Great post! Trackback didn’t seem to work. Here’s my post referencing and linking yours (scroll down):
