As you probably know, my husband is deploying to Afghanistan. And we were hoping some of you might be willing to help out his unit while they’re gone! A lot of the Marines in Matt’s unit are very young, right out of boot camp, and obviously, it’s their first deployment, which would be scary for anyone. With that in mind, Matt signed his Marines up at Any Marine. Through Any Marine, you can send letters and care packages to Matt, who will be the point of contact. He will then distribute your mail and care packages to the other Marines, with Marines who don’t get any mail getting first preference. Care packages can be expensive, I know, but even just getting a letter saying that someone appreciates the sacrifice they’re making, and that someone is thinking of them really does mean a lot. It can get demoralizing being there for months on end, and your letters and care packages can go a long way towards lifting unit morale. And I can’t even tell you how important that is for the mission to succeed — not just for Matt’s unit, but for all of the troops fighting over there.
If you’re willing to help make this deployment a little easier for these Marines, then you can apply to adopt his unit here. Or, you can just go to the Any Marine website, click “Where To Send”, and look for Cpl. Matthew Chesser. I hope that his unit will get a lot of support as they go to fight for their country. Thanks in advance for all your help!

That one is pretty neat..and easy!
Sorry if you get a bunch of posts from me.. some of this stuff makes it easy to adopt a marine..
Done! I have been looking for a Marine to ‘adopt’ ever since my cousin came back from Kuwait. The USPS does have lower prices for the flat rate boxes, Kassey, and those are the ones that I use all the time.
Cassie,
Our daughters girl scout troop sent tons of boxes of cookies this spring to troops in Iraq and we were looking for a way to show our support for the troops this fall. I will get this information to our troop leader and we would be so happy to do anything that will help the morale of these brave and wonderful men and women.
Prayers to you and your budding family. You are a very strong woman and I admire you greatly.
I just ordered some of those flat rate boxes. =) Been meaning to try Any Soldier, just hadn’t gotten around to it.
When will they be in country or are they there already?
