a tale of two sneakers: one pair cost $500 and were worn to a homeless shelter; the other pair worn on the run, inbetween speeches. what? maybe $70?
just more excess.
it’s really not about the sneakers themselves i suppose, it’s how you carry yourself when you wear them. by the way, sarah palin has great legs doesn’t she? we’ve seen the wookie’s knees so….
h/t lucianne
Palin could be wearing flippers and a Moo moo and look good.
Please $500.00 tennis shoes don’t help.
Margaret Thatcher once said “The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money.”
But what can we expect. Spend Spend Spend when we don’t even know where or what the money is going to. Spend Spend Spend when we dont even have a clue as to what the projects are. Case in point, the veep Joe “Can someone please remove the foot from my mouth” Biden thinks the Hudson river tunnel will just be awesome for the hundreds of thousands of automobiles traveling between New Jersey and Manhattan. The only problem, its for TRAINS. $8.7 billion was funded in the big o’s current stimulus package for this project. Just goes to show you not even the vp read it. Because if he did I’d hope he’d know the difference between a Train and an automobile. Priceless
I’m going to go off the reservation on this and say that I don’t really care who spends how much on clothes for Ms. Obama (actually it’s unlikely she or the taxpayer is spending any money at all; most of these people have their clothes given to them).
I remember the scandal when Nancy Reagan was caught borrowing designer dresses to wear to international functions, and keeping them. Like she was supposed to be out in a paper sack. Like Oscar de la Renta or Halston would have taken it back. Those dresses were worth more to them in her closet.
I know it’s about symbolic appearances and given our economy it would be better if the Obama’s were a little less conspicuous in their consumption, especially when it’s on the taxpayer dime (like private tours of Paris and London for the little Obama’s).
But – sorry Kate – the shoes that Ms. Obama wears just don’t bother me. It’s her husband’s plans for our country that do.
Besides, much like Mrs. Reagan, I’m sure Ms. Obama has been given much of her designer clothing. It’s the best advertising these designers could ever have – free and lots of it.
Yeah Kris, I get most of what your saying but when I volunteer at the foodbanks twice a week I kinda dress down, ya know ?
i completely understand kris and i appreciate the example of mrs reagan. it reminds me of her wh china issue that the liberals eviscerated her for — when all along it was purchased through private foundation $$ not taxpayer dollars. but my point isn’t what folks can or cannot afford — i don’t think all things need to be equal. i am a capitalist 🙂 and all anyone has to do is look at the closet that houses my guilty pleasure (shoes).
my point is much more simple: don’t tell me how i should live and what the fruits of my labor should spent on when you yourselves act like marie antoinette and god, jr.
Micky & Kate – I hear ya. I am no fan of the Obama’s – in case that hasn’t been clear before… :-). But I do wonder about the idea that the First Family has to cut corners like everyone else. NOT that they should go on a spending spree with my money.
I will admit that there does seem to be a sense of entitlement about them – and that I don’t like. But getting worked up over some expensive (and ugly) sneakers? Meh.
Seriously, if someone wanted to give me free designer clothes and all I had to do was say “I’m wearing so-and-so”, I’d do it.
Believe me Kate, I am a capitalist as well and, similarly to you, all anyone has to do is look in my jewelry boxes…
“But getting worked up over some expensive (and ugly) sneakers? Meh.”
I don’t think anyone’s worked up. I think it’s a funny picture and representative of how badly SP was treated over her bought campaign clothes and now MO with her garbed up outfits and butt ugly tennies.
The Obamas are just clueless like someone who just won the lottery or was the example yesterday Disney World? They flaunt their perks with an air of entitlement regardless of the situation (homeless shelter like Micky said).
HAHAHAHAH infighting! I love it!
Infighting??????? lol
Jealousy of Michelle Obama will get you no where. Your picture and post was just spiteful and hateful as are most things you put up. At least Kris saw it for what it was though I disagree with her on everything else. You do yourself no favors when you are so inconsistent about this sort of thing other then to show yourself shallow. You quibble over the cost of her shoes!! So ridiculous.
Pennie, if you think any of us nay sayers are jealous of Michelle you need you head screwed back on.
If anything I pity the woman who cant see straight enough to not go wearing 500.00 tennies to a homeless shelter.
Imagine sitting there homeless and hungry and this b*tch walks in as if she cares wearing tennies that could feed everyone in the place.
Shes a fake pos
So – discussion among folks of a similar mind is classified as infighting? That explains so much about the motivations of the left.
Jealous? Hardly. Annoyed by their sanctimonious, self-serving actions – yes. Pennie, we may quibble over the cost of a pair of shoes, but Marsha is right. It’s nothing compared to the hits Sarah Palin and her family took over the clothes that were purchased for them – and either returned or donated at the end of the campaign.
It’s the perfect – though shallow – illustration of the double standard that exists from the left.
“You quibble over the cost of her shoes!! So ridiculous.”
Much like the “ethics violations” that was recently dismissed against Palin over the cost of her wardrobe, filed by a flaming liberal.
Good call Pennie. Please turn of “The View” and get some information on the real world.
you know pennie you are just ridiculous. we on the right side of the aisle (as opposed to those of you on the wrong) are in agreement as far as the obamas.
but let me take this gift handed to me to give you a brief lesson in something here… ready?
we on the right do not feel we have to be in lockstep with each other or we are bad or disloyal or even traitorous. we also do not feel we have to be automatons of each other — parroting back and forth what ever the lib mantra for the day is. we are free thinking yet opinionated, passionate people who are like-minded rather then washed out clones of god jr. and pennie? it’s really liberating.
wookie?! lol
you are getting worse than me kate
but anyone who thinks shoes are not serious business … i have my eye on these
lisa i can definately see mo having the first ones — to go with her whip.
i do not think they come in size 15
Pennie, I am POSITIVE that you were one of the clueless ranting and raving over the “China Syndrome” in the Reagan WH.
Can anyone identify the type of shoes that the Mesiahs wife is wearing?
yeah, they are lanvin sneakers. rather ugly VERY pricey. you can get the same ones she has on sale here:
http://www.lindestore.com/eng/product/1943/
Lisa, once the Obama’s either wear and/or endorse ANY product you can bet your last euro that I won’t be purchasing that product….EVER. Anyway, thanks for the info!
stm – you wouldn’t like those shoes anyway. they are really ugly. very status, but ugly status. 🙂
