Voters losing trust in Democrats

A new Rasmussen poll is out, an one that should be giving the Democratic party reason to be nervous. Republicans are now the party that voters trust on 8 out of 10 issues, and they’re quickly gaining on the other two.

Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on eight out of 10 key electoral issues, including, for the second straight month, the top issue of the economy. They’ve also narrowed the gap on the remaining two issues, the traditionally Democratic strong suits of health care and education.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that voters trust the GOP more on economic issues 46% to 41%, showing little change from the six-point lead the party held last month. This is just the second time in over two years of polling the GOP has held the advantage on economic issues. The parties were close on the issue in May, with the Democrats holding a one-point lead.

Voters not affiliated with either party trust Republicans more to handle the economy by a 46% to 32% margin.

Last week’s report of 9.5 percent unemployment, the highest since 1983, raised doubts about the economy and the president’s handling of it. Consumer and investor confidence is now down to the lowest levels in three months. Just 39% now say President Obama is doing a good or an excellent job on the economy while 43% rate his performance as poor. Those are by far the weakest numbers yet for the president.

The president’s approval ratings also have fallen to new lows in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

This is the second straight month that voters trust Republicans more on the economy than they do Democrats.

Obama’s strong approval rating is now down to 30%. His strong disapproval rating is up to 37%, giving him an all-time low in his Presidential Approval Index of -7.

In just a few short months, Democrats and Obama have seen their credibility on multiple issues plummet. And it isn’t likely to get any better, because they just aren’t reading the signs. They aren’t listening to their constituents, and they’ve spent the last five months shoving through horrible legislation that is wrecking our economy. Of course, in order to get these bills passed, they needed to get them through immediately, while Americans were still in the Obama honeymoon phase and willing to overlook some of the more egregious flaws in the legislation. But unfortunately for Dems, that scenario has come back to bite them. Inevitably, the honeymoon was going to end. And while Americans still want to see Barack Obama succeed, they’re losing patience and they’re getting fed up.

And now, instead of slowing down, Democrats are barreling forward with more bad legislation, like cap and trade and Obamacare. If they don’t get smart and put on the brakes, they will see massive losses in 2010 to a GOP that is disorganized, without a leader, and without a message.

  • Don’t forget that Dear Leader has a little over a year before the 2010 elections, and by that time, the stimulus payoffs will have mostly found the targets pockets to line. And don’t forget that Dear Leader OWNS the damned MSM.

    Do not underestimate Dear Leader.

Wow, that’s remarkably low considering A) how pissed off people were at Bush, and B) how much the media is spinning for him (maybe we could hook ABC up to a turbine, that should take care of our energy problems).

I guess people are starting to notice that being the first black guy, and being able to speak well do not necessarily make for the best presidential material. If only they’d realized that back in november, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
