Hey guys — it’s time for the next wave of tea parties! Are you ready to go Galt?
The Tax Day Tea Party is a national collaborative grassroots effort organized by Smart Girl Politics, Top Conservatives on Twitter, the DontGo Movement and many other online groups/coalitions.
The Tea Party protests, in their current form, began in early 2009 when Rick Santelli, the On Air Editor for CNBC, set out on a rant to expose the bankrupt liberal agenda of the White House Administration and Congress. Specifically, the flawed “Stimulus Bill” and pork filled budget.
During Rick’s rant (see video below), he called for a “Chicago tea Party” where advocates of the free-market system could join in a protest against out of control government spending.
A few days later, grassroots activists and average Joe Americans began organizing what would soon become the Nationwide Chicago Tea Party effort.
On February 27th, an estimated 30,000 Americans took to the street in 40+ cities accross the country in the first nationwide “Tea Party” protest.
Organizers of the February 27th events pledged to continue on with an even bigger and better protest to follow the first. With April 15th being “Tax Day”, it was decided to schedule the second round of Tea Party protests to ride alongside the tax deadline.
And with that, the “Tax Day Tea Party”, the second round of the Nationwide Tea Party protests, moved into reality.
It’s time to let the ego-driven, out of touch, power hungry politicians know that enough is enough. Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid & Co. are pouring trillions — yes, trillions — down the hole, giving us a debt that our children and grandchildren will be paying off.
On February 27th, thousands of Americans in cities across the country made their voices heard. And on April 15th, we’re going to make our voices heard again. What are we protesting? We’re protesting spending over $800 billion in wasteful pork. We’re protesting 9,000 earmarks. We’re protesting the entitlement mentality that’s overtaking the country. We’re protesting taxpayer-funded bailouts of corporations that deserve to fail.
Last week, thousands of first-time protestors gathered in a grassroots effort to make a statement. And it’s time to go Galt. Are we working to make money for ourselves and our families, or are we working to fund the socialist dreams of an out-of-control, radical government?
Make your voice heard. Find out if there’s a Tax Day Tea Party in your city here, and if there isn’t, then organize one yourself. For updates, check the website or #teaparty. Michelle also has info.
As for me, I will be attending the Jacksonville Tax Day Tea Party. If you’re in the North Florida/South Georgia area, go and sign up. I’ll keep you informed of the local updates and details (and on Twitter as well), and I hope to be seeing a lot of you there!
I’ll be at the one in Cincinnati on March 15th.
As for going Galt, I can’t do too much more, but I will be planting a fairly large garden this year.
I’ve gone Galt and will do as much more as I can. Where is John Galt when you need him? I would like to read his radio speech to Congress and MAKE them listen.
I don’t have much information on the Jacksonville Tea Party. I want to attend. I think we need to somehow organize a peaceful demonstration in Washington but it has to be huge….to get their attention and remind them in Washington that they work for us.
Diane
How stupid is Cassy Fiano? About as stupid as taking responsibility for yourself, or wanting to have a better life without expecting someone else to give it to you, for socialist out there. Giving 4 billion (not an exact figure) to Acorn to buy voter fraud isn’t stimulus it is Treason. One dollar was too much and 800 billion (not an exact figure) public theft. I will be there again and again until we have our country back. Yea I am going Galt, and have been for years.
