So, everyone is talking about the alleged attack on Ashley Todd, McCain supporter and campaign volunteer. She claimed that, while at an ATM, she was robbed and assaulted, and then had a “B” carved into her cheek once the mugger noticed the McCain bumper sticker on her car. Long story short, police noticed lots of inconsistencies in her story, and Ashley Todd admitted to making the whole thing up. Michelle and Allah have been covering this all day. Unsurprisingly, the College Republicans Ashley was associated with are none too happy, and she’s been officially canned.
But seriously, come on — do we really need idiots like this girl making shit like this up? Who does she think this helps?! She says she has a history of mental problems, and apparently it must be true, because you must be f—ing insane to do something like this. It makes McCain look bad. It makes Republicans look bad. It makes her look bad. It wastes police manpower and taxpayer dollars to investigate the phony attack. Thanks a whole lot, sweetheart. You just screwed things up for everyone. I shudder to think how many liberals are gleefully prancing this story around their lefty blogs, using this crap as “proof” that liberals are actually the tolerant ones and Republicans are just making it all up to bring down Obama. The DUmmies are already saying the McCain camp is behind the fraud. The Kos Kids are using it to call the Republican Party a “party of hate” and think that she should be charged with not only filing a false police report, but also a hate crime. And all of this is because of one stupid girl, who I’d probably use a very, very bad four-letter word to describe if I could. Seriously — who does she think she was helping?! There are enough real crimes in the world without having to make some up.
UGH. If I could, I think I’d give that girl a real black eye.
You know, had they posted that picture yesterday, it would have been debunked then. The B is backwards, meaning that she likely did this in a mirror.
I remember an Encyclopedia Brown story where he cracked the case by figuring out that someone did the dastardly deed in the mirror, so everything was flipped from the way it should have been, had someone else done it. I can’t remember the specifics.
I guess they should have hired ol’ Encyclopedia Brown – 25 cents a day, plus expenses! 🙂

Here’s the eye witness account of a patriotic citizen – Today, while in Hawaii, Senator Obama entered into the private residence of an elderly white woman. That’s right he just walked right in! What’s even more horrifying is that this patriotic and god-fearing 85yr old had just come home from the hospital after breaking her hip! How much of a sadistic monster can Obama be? Just letting himself in and accosting a patriotic white woman that just came home from hip surgery…? I’m sorry but Barack HUSSEIN Obama has hit a new low, even for him. A socialist agenda and extremist ties to terrorist aren’t enough, now he wants to enter private homes and harass pro-america seniors. The Obama campaign has been scrambling to get their elitist pinheads back on to try and spin this, but were still able to offer this statement to the local radical liberal newspaper, The Honolulu Advertiser: “Senator Obama was visiting his ailing grandmother at her home in Honolulu.”
Grandmother! I mean come on…what a complete load of BS! We all know how good they are of spinning over there at the Obama campaign. I can’t wait till Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh get a hold of this, that’s the only way were gonna get the truth.
We can’t allow this puppet for the radical communist movement to win the highest office in our land. I love my pro-america grandparents too dearly, and I will stop at nothing to protect them from these left wing maniacs.

Andrew Sullivan publicly called out Drudge for his HYPING this nonsense story. those two will have a MUCH stronger hand after the election to criticise. So will Peggy Noonan, Brooks, From, and George Wills.

mark says: Bush screwing up EVERYTHING he touched for eight LONG years hadn’t given Democrat voters quite the level of intensity to come out voting in MASSIVE numbers, so McCain campaign gave us that little kicker of a PHONEY racist scare story.

I suggest Democrats go to the polls with a backwards Mc drawn on their cheeks, it will be great psy-ops for Republicans, and make that tedious exit polling UNNECESARY
Karen says: The only reason there is even a political angle to this story is that we are close to the election, so it obviously was on this girl’s mind. Otherwise, this is a very typical story of a mentally ill person faking a crime to get attention. The fake crimes almost ALWAYS have a racial theme; every one I can think of from Susan Smith to the Duke scandal. For anyone to blame McCain because one of his supporters is a nutcase is totally unfair, and I thought that even the conservative reporting of this story has been extremely cautious, with many hinting right away that it might be a fraud.
