dem veep stakes

obama & clinton in ’08.  is this dream team or just a bad dream?  this won’t happen.  especially since one of the best jokes around is obama better employ a trusted food taster if he picks her for his veep!  here are my thoughts …

obama’s take:  well obama seems quite put out with hillary for a variety of reasons including the fact that he has had the nomination locked up for weeks (i guess he doesn’t like end runs!).  he also hates that he should be asked tough questions about his associations like every other candidate (republicans), i mean after all is he not the messiah? obama is also put out that hillary has also played the race card against him numerous times which he thinks is one of the reasons his numbers with white males is in the toity.  and really, he thinks, how can he be a racist??  he’s black for gosh sakes!  *coughSHARPTONcough*  *coughJACKSONcough*

hillary’s take:  she can’t believe this upstart rookie has actually taken THE PRIZE away from her and prevented the clampetts oops i mean clintons from going back where they belong: the White House.  it was to be her coronation after all — remember?  and then there was that little dust up with bill in south carolina…  i am sure she feels that obama’s people are to blame for the loss of respect and esteem for the former president.

but wait!  the flipside?  there is “my precious” — the gold ring — the allure of power, history, legacy.  ok the vice presidency.  sometimes this is like the balm of gilead soothing wounds and making the impossible, possible.  click here to see what that sear of ABC politics, george stephanopolis thinks.

so the upshot is the only way obama will put hillary on the ticket is if it was determined he couldn’t beat mccain without her.  period.

the best gift for obama would be that obligatory pic of the 2 of them together — once bitter rivals — now hands clasped and raised in unity at the convention in denver.  blech.

he’ll most likely get that pic.  once he’s the official nominee, there will be a hard court press to pull the 2 sides together.  expect clinton’s more prominent supporters, like ed rendell, to have prime time speaking slots during the convention.  i also imagine that some clinton staffers will be given high profile positions in obama’s campaign as well.  everything will be done to present a totally unified party…

…except making hillary the veep.

the republican players for veep coming soon!
