This Is A TERRIBLE Idea….

This Is A TERRIBLE Idea….

I know that given the fact that a dude strolled into an airport and starting shooting it up this last week, there are some who think that more guns is the answer.

Now normally, I would be all in favor of something that makes it harder for jackass crazy people to walk into anywhere and start shooting up the place, and the carrying of guns by good guys will have the effect of making it more difficult to carry out something like this, contrary to what the libturds who live in triple gated communities think.  We can talk about something called “target hardening” later and how leftists benefit from something called “distance from disorder.”

Behold, the warriors on the front line of the GWOT…  Please someone tell me this is a good idea.

THIS is a terrible idea…

The last people that need to have guns or arrest powers are the people that work for the TSA at those check points.  They are definitely NOT the good guys.  In fact, supporting the idea that the people making breast cancer patients remove their prosthetic breasts, frisking geriatric nuns, making disabled vets climb out of their wheelchairs, and hassling toddlers having guns and the ability to take away your freedom and ruin your life is a level of cognitive dissonance that is usually treated with sedatives.  These are the last people that need to have arrest powers and guns.  In fact, I would support giving guns to the Syrians before giving them to the TSA.  The people that choose to be employed by an agency that refuse as a matter of law to “profile” for terrorists don’t need guns and arrest powers.  The last people that need to have arrest powers and guns are the people that can’t seem to be honest.

The study’s release follows news reports about TSA agents who had embezzled electronics and laptops worth $80,000, as well as other reports that the TSA was in the process of firing agents at Newark’s Liberty International Airport who had not followed screening procedures.

The people making me kick off my Jimmy Chus on my way to my flight are not exactly what I would call “the front line” in the GWOT.  If you think I am being to harsh, just hit the interwebs and type in something like “TSA sucks” and see what you get.  I seriously do not need the Keystone Cops version of the Stasi hassling Aunt Mabel over her metal hip joint any more than they already do having the power to put her on the floor at gunpoint when she goes for her Medic-Alert card.  Anyone out there think that incidents of misconduct won’t go through the roof?  I have in intellectual basis for this.  Anyone ever heard of The Milgram Experiment? How about the The Stanford Prison Experiment?  Go and have a look and tell me if you want the TSA to have guns and the ability to take away your freedom.

Does anyone remember Norm Mineta?  You know, the Bush appointed Transportation Secretary who, when asked about screening, said that we should give an equal amount of scrutiny to 70 year old women from Vero Beach as we would to young Muslim men.  Possibly one of the worst appointments by a president ever.

I think that the idea that these people working in these positions would have anything on their belt sharper or more dangerous than a sharp stick is possibly the most misguided idea since Obama-care or working with the Russians to secure the Syrians chemical weapons.

Anyone else want the most inept group of clerks and gropers ever to get a government paycheck to have a gun and arrest powers?

Yeah, me either….

I wonder if the thought of bankrupting and nationalizing the airline industry ever entered the Administration’s 👿 minds? Monkeys with guns and cuffs would keep most people out of the zoo.

Don’t forget their plans to put the TSA in bus and rail terminals, stadiums, and other public venues “for your protection.”

      “for your protection”
Riiiiiiiiiight. Iwonder if in 50 years “blueshirts” will be a ejorative phrase associated with thuggery and fascist tendencies?

The TSA is like a collective Cartman. Yeah, let’s arm ’em all…

  • Kevin says:

Well, the world is probably coming to an end soon because, I AGREE WITH YOU! We probably have different reasons for coming the same conclusion but the end result is I agree that TSA Agents should not be armed. If the powers that be feel the need to arm TSA Agents, then they should have a different classification of TSA Agent; someone held to a higher standard and who would meet the same physical and psychological standards of armed law enforcement officers. The person checking my luggage, looking at an x-ray machine or passing a wand over my belt buckle doesn’t to have a gun strapped to their waist.

Maybe I have lost my mind, but why is it ok for properly background checked teachers to have guns, but the TSA is not?….I’m not being snarky, I genuinely am conflicted about this. I realize that TSA officers are not highly educated individuals, but if they meet the qualifications of conceal carry, why should they be treated differently than any other citizen who wishes to carry?

    • GWB says:

It’s not an issue of carrying weapons as citizens, Jen, it’s a question of having the authority to carry them as agents of the state. The first is an issue of a right, the second is an issue of a responsibility.

I will admit that some of the TSA folks with which I’ve interacted over the last decade+ were dedicated and principled individuals. However, I have also met my share who would have fit right in with a black armband on their uniform. I have no desire to give folks who already have the power to prevent me from getting to my flight the power to shoot me, and especially this group of thugs.

Agree with you and also with Dejah’s blog posting. I guess I was looking at it from a self defense point of view , in light of what happened last week in LA.

No , I definitely do not want them to have any additional powers over what they currently have.
