STILL The Greatest Generation

Just over sixty-nine years ago, more than one-hundred and fifty thousand troops stormed the beaches of Normandy. Most did not survive the day. Yesterday, two hundred veterans of Normandy and other battles of World War II stormed Washington to gain access to a barricaded and closed World War II Memorial. Washington is lucky they survived.

My question is this: WHY was it barricaded? That monument was earned through blood, tears, and sacrifice, some of it ultimate. It is a testament to both the apathy and sheer stupidity of those in Washington that I even have to posit that query. From our Speaker who appears to enjoy swimming in Cheeto dust and ashes while listening to the Crying Game, to Nancy Pelosi’s inability to serve with her finger permanently affixed to the speed dials of her surgeon and sommelier, is it any wonder veterans are forced to take what is rightfully theirs? How is that exemplary of a grateful nation?

And are they really so stupid that they believe some little barricade will keep out men who survived exponentially worse than what they see in their little war video games?? Yeah, no. That’s cute. THEY SAVED THE WORLD!

They ARE the Greatest Generation, and that is in large part due to their tenacity and inability to accept defeat, something which seems to have gone by the wayside. From Operation Overlord to Operation Over-your-crap, they have proven they won’t accept less than what they’ve earned.

So, when do the rest of us get off of our collective asses and take back what WE have earned?
