Obama Slept While the Consulate Burned

During the 2008 campaign, before Barack Obama won the nomination, Hillary Clinton aired a now-infamous ad asking if Obama would be ready to answer a 3am phone call in response to a crisis. Anyone in their right mind knew that no, he would not be ready. And his presidency thus far has proved it. But never before has he sunk this low.

Obama was informed of the attack on the Libyan consulate about 90 minutes after it began. And while the consulate burned and Ambassador Stevens, along with five others, were being murdered, what did Obama do? He went to bed.

Fox News’ Special Report informed us that Barack Obama knew of the attack on the Libyan consulate within 90 minutes of it beginning. There is no doubt that Obama knew that the attacks involved AK-47s, along with Rocket propelled grenades. He knew that his ambassador was in grave danger and yet knowing all of this, and not knowing the status of Ambassador Stevens, Obama allegedly went quietly to bed.

Was there anything that he could have done? We don’t know. In all likelihood, there was nothing he could have done to save the life of Ambassador Stevens, or the other five Americans who were murdered. But all the same, this was a national crisis, a moment where we needed a strong leader. Instead we got a president who was completely indifferent, who could care less that an ambassador’s life was in jeopardy, who just went to sleep not knowing or caring what was happening.

Is it possible that the magnitude of what was happening was too much for him? That he couldn’t handle the pressure and needed to get away from it? Absolutely, and that would be a perfectly acceptable response if he wasn’t the President of the United States.

If Obama’s response in a moment of crisis is to go and hide under the covers — and that is literally what he has done — then there is no way that he is fit to hold the office of president. As painful as it is to admit it, Hillary Clinton was right. Obama isn’t ready to answer that phone when it rings at 3am.
