No, Husain Abdullah did not get Penalized for his Muslim Prayer

Big news in the NFL is the HUGE victory of the Kansas City Chiefs over the New England Patriots in last night’s Monday night football. And as fans of our hometown Chiefs team, we were doing quite the happy dance here at our humble home.

The other NFL news is the manufactured “outrage” over Chiefs player Husain Abdullah allegedly getting penalized for his Muslim prayer in the end zone after he scored a touchdown.  Enter the Twitter folks, quick to pile on for perceived anti-Muslim prejudice, and oh, yes, let’s not forget Tim Tebow bowing in prayer in the end zone. Because, you know, Christian.

No, he didn’t get penalized for this. Calm down.

You’d think that red-blooded American football fans would not be so thin-skinned about a so-called offense to a Muslim, especially when one of the more recent acolytes of the Religion of Perpetual Outrage just beheaded a woman in Moore, Oklahoma, after a series of unsuccessful conversion attempts (and I don’t mean on the football field). But no, PC reigns everywhere.

Problem for these knee-jerk leftists is that Abdullah was indeed penalized for his slide into the end zone, not his prayer. He admitted as much in a post game interview on Kansas City’s 610 Sports Radio. “I got carried away,” he admitted.

If you ask me, I really don’t care if players offer a quick prayer to whomever they worship, be it Jesus Christ, Allah, Buddha, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. And I don’t really get worked up over end zone shenanigans. I find them harmlessly silly.

But then again, I’m not a liberal. And if you’re a liberal hammer, everything looks like a nail.
