Alexander Hamilton (can you tell I’m a bit fascinated with our ten-dollar founding father?) wrote in Federalist 28 that “In a single state, if the persons intrusted with supreme power become usurpers… The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair.” Hamilton and the other Founders disagreed on quite a bit, but one of the things they all held dear was the people’s ability to remove a tyrant – by force, if necessary. This is why the Second Amendment that protects the right to keep and bear arms exists – to remove tyrants from power.
